A Handful of Nightingales
Take my word
It is infinitely harder
Pretending to be awake
Than it is to be asleep
Take my word
I double dare you
Tho before you do
Relinquish all that shame
And guilt
Take my word
And I will send you
A handful of nightingales
To keep you company
In the time it takes
For you to contemplate
Each possibility
From your garden
Beneath the crescent moon
Think I’m joking
Then phone me on 01……

In a bizarre sort of way I rather think your poem and mine his morning sort of go together even if they are not all there. Mt widest hand span is 8.24ins - how many will that hold?
Actually I really did enjoy the read.
thank you Michael.. quite a few I imagine....
At 6.5ins long I guess it's more if they are dead.
Pretending to be awake in some of the sermons that I have sat through has become quite an art.
then you know what I mean... maybe.. a handful of goldfinches can be just as tricky.... cheers..
They sure can.
I have actually held goldfinches in my hand, we have a conservatory and some of the youngsters have flown into the glass occasionally and been stunned, I hold them until they recover - all have so far.
good man.. we have a lot of conservatives around here too but between you and me, I try to steer clear of politics.........
Sometimes we can 'pretend' to be interested. Might depend on whether the sermon/talk goes on for over 30 minutes or not. Gasp!
thank you for putting in a show, or should that be putting on a show.... cheers
You got some nightingales for me? We have a Nightingale Road in our area. Not seen many of them birds there though.
Nice work Neville.....do you really want my phone number?lol
thank you Jason... let me dwell upon that.. cheers.. N
I like this one.
Now I don't need to only turn to Keats for my nightingales.
Enjoy Italy š
mission accomplished.. cheers sylviasearcher..
Far too complicated for a humble sinner like me to attempt. My body clock is already keeping planet Saturn time. Mostly i'm awake or... is this a dream.
You tell me...Iām just about to hop on a plane... ciao
How did I miss this one ? - - ha - I love double dares and I like the idea of nightingales in my garden....... a good read to contemplate - - - ooooh - is that my phone ringing ? ......... x
