She.

Goldfinch60

She is leaving this world,

She knows that death is calling her.

She has had a good life,

She has a loving husband,

She has a loving family,

She knows they will miss her.

She wants to come to peace

In the place that she loves,

That cottage on the beach

Where the sun always shines,

That place far away,

With her husband at her side.

They arrive at her heaven on earth,

Their last days together full of joy,

Full of love, and full of laughter,

Until that day when she knew,

She knew her end was near,

And her life on this world was ended.

She lay on the beach with her lover,

His arms around her,

Looking out to the setting sun.

She slowly rose and walked to the sea.

As she walked into the sunset

She looked back and saw herself

Laying there, as if asleep,

In her loving husband’s arms.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This was written about I scene I saw on a television programme a couple of years ago, to me it was so moving. This was written some time ago but I came across it as I was looking for something else and thought it was worth publishing.

        Thank you Michael

When I saw it, it was in the last episode of the first series of 'The Good Karma Hospital', I was so moved, and still am.

THANKS UNCLE ANDY ~ We love ALL Beethoven's sonatas and Daniel has the delicate touch required for the Pathetique. Love the nuances of demise woven into the Poem. It is seldom that Couples die on the same day ~ there is always one left to grieve. The scenario for Angela & I (hopefully) is 50 years hence ~ but come it must ! The gentleness of the poem (to some extent) softens the blow ?
Thanks for caring ~ Blessings & Love to Both of You ~

There are often beautiful endings to entertain us. Sadly, reflecting upon our own lifes, they can bring tears of sadness too.

            • Goldfinch60

So very true d a, but the endings can be a new beginning.

              Andy,

So glad you posted this poem! If I had a choice, what your poem describes along with the musical clip are an ideal way to leave this earth! That would be a beautiful ending!
Thank you for the posting. I did enjoy it!
