Tune: St Peter
('How sweet the name of Jesus sounds')
Psalm 146 v.5-10
**********
Happy they who hope in the Lord
And have His help, His word
The LORD who made heaven, earth, sea
Created even me
He keeps truth sure for evermore
Wise judgement from His store
He does dispense, helps the oppressed
In Him they may find rest
The LORD gives food to the hungry
Satisfied they shall be
He frees the Prisoners, those bound
Release in Him is found
The LORD opens eyes of the blind
'Tis through His mercies kind
He raises them that are bowed down
Or 'neath an angry frown
He loves the righteous, and preserves
Strangers, though none deserves
His help, yet still the fatherless (and motherless)
And widows (and widowers) does He bless
He turns the way of the wicked
Upside down, they do tread
Paths of confusion, but He reigns
For e'er, and all sustains
