Mmm rose hip and crab apple jelly - great on toast but haven't had it for many years. Not heard of yinga booba - can you enlighten me? And poppy seeds (papaver) /helianthus not sure of the connection. Anyway enjoyed the write - there is much out there growing wild that we fail to make full use of.
Thanks UNCLE MIKE ~ Healianthus (from HELIOS = SUN) are Sun Flower seeds ! YINGA BOOBA isa bit more obcure BOOBA is an African Word for GRANDMA and YINGA refers to Ginger ! So it is Grandmas Ginger Spice (not Gerry Halliwell) ! Its 4 pm here and Ive just finished teaching ! Its 5 am (Friday) in Auckland so Angela ~ I presume is still fast asleep in her BED ! Work & sleep do interfere with MPS ~ Yours as always BRIAN
Yes I can see that Helianthus seeds are sun flower seeds but wasn't sure of the connection to poppy seeds although I guess they are similar. Love the idea of Grandmas Ginger Spice.
A tasty write B&A.
THANKS UNCLE MIKE ~ PLEASED YOU SAVOURD IT ~ Yours as always ~ BRIAN !

Glad you included the humble nastursium in your interesting list of herbs Brian - - they have such a tangy taste with most salads....... great little read to remind us of what lies free to be gratefully picked.
THANKS FAY ~ My Mum lovs the taste of NASTURSIUM ! She picks them from the garden ~ removes caterpillarswashes & slices them into salads ! Tangy mustard taste ! Yours as always BRIAN The Herbalist !
