Tune: Dundee
('God moves in a mysterious way')
Mark 3 v.22-30 parts
**********
The scribes said, Jesus does cast out
By Beelzebub no doubt
The ruler of the demons acts
We are sure these the facts
Yet Jesus says, How can Satan
Cast out devils, e'en one?
For if he rises 'gainst himself
He loses all his wealth
He says, Truly I say to you
All sins, not just a few
Shall be forgiven unto you
And blasphemies be too
But who blasphemes the Holy Ghost
Is in a turmoil most
For such never have forgiveness
But damnation no less
This said because the scribes did say
Jesus did heal that way
By evil mean, they did cancel
Out their forgiveness all
Yet not to fret, for such a state
We need not meet, nor fate
Condemnation is to hard hearts
Which from God's way depart
For they depart to such extent
Do not change, no relent
But call good evil, so justly
Their dreadful state shall be

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. metre. This is the 'unforgivable sin'. Hopefully the poem explains things, in that by continually calling good evil, they cancel out their forgiveness. It would apply to those with a hardened heart outlook, set in their ways against Jesus continually.

You have a real way with these Orchi - great work.
Thanks Michael. Erm, this theme would not fit so much in the 'Praise' section of hymn books! A study book helps me with this series too. If it wasn't so serious - you know Be-el? Beelzebub 'Lord of the Flies'? A derogatory name for Satan. (We don't want to know him in real life).
the devil's in the detail... or so it seems... well poemed sir... N
Thanks N. Yes, if it was not so serious, very upper class folk would say 'Tally-ho, those scribes are in rather a pickle, what? Heigh-ho, and all that guff!' (heehee).
pleasure
Another good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
Well scribed again Orchi - - cancelling Heaven's forgiveness is a serious error indeed.
Thanks Fay.
