FESTAL LIGHT
As silence calmed and evening reigned
she ceased to note the hour of day.
She fell as guest to natures arms
with crowns of apprehension flown
she entered her Elysium.
In sleep her garlands of reserve
with transient petulance forgone.
In innocence of pride and wealth
and faculty of thought regained
she woke in festal light.

Super write Michael. I too would like to wake in festal light.
Me too instead of damp and gloom - thanks Andy.
A fine write and pic Michael. Erm, is this subtitled: "No.769 in 'The 1,001 Adventures of Miss Berles'"? lol.
It is and she's been going on and on about it with Bab Berles.
You know that (not so well known) hymn 'Hail, Festal Day' by Fortunatus? It goes on for about 11 verses. I don't know the tune, but I can fit it to another 10.10. metre tune.
Did you meet Mr F? He was around in the 6th Century.
No I missed him - I think I sneezed when he went by. The story of my life.
Thanks Uncle Mike for your PIC (I love English Village High Streets : timeless) and POEM ! Its 11:30 pm here time for me to enter those Elysium Fields and then wake in Festal Light : I am so so blessed to be in Auckland : High Summer in late JANUARY ! Thanks for sharing postive thoughts each (well most !) day.

Bless you Angela - thanks for your kind words
These are beautiful words Michael.
Much appreciated Sylvia - thanks for looking in.
Your poetic style ever fascinates and as usual I want to read this over again so into my faves it goes. Great watercolour of village life too.
Thanks so much Fay - may I presume to say the same about your work which I always admire and look forward to reading.
And - there's a film, Elysium, set in 2154 I read. Erm, how do they know what it's gonna be like then?! Did they take Dr Who's Tardis to the future? Hmmm.
Ah, the capturing of such beauty is very rarely found. Beautiful write, my friend.
Thanks Kevin.
darn near perfectly put.... much enjoyed and then some... Neville
