BOOKS IN RETIREMENT
Tonight I shall travel
back to my country
while weather is stormy
In season of fogs.
Tonight I shall travel
through winds which are shifting
with solemn tranquillity
bearing me homeward
to books in retirement
late nights and strong coffee.

It was bad enough getting lost in books when I was working - it is even worse now that I am retired.
I'm an avid reader - just love the written word.
A fine write Michael. And now your next book:' The Tales of Sylla Berles and Burlington Bertie'? Did you write the book yourself - or with me maybe?
I've only published books of cartoons so far but I might turn a new leaf.....!
Will there be restrictions on syllables in books?
Yes but not on punctuation - I have a box full in the man shed - but I've lost the key - have you got it?
Yes! Did you let out a lot of "*&^%$*^£(!"~@" from the shed when I gave you the key to the shed door? Or did you say all that "punctuation" when you lost the key?!
I simply went back indoors and kept saying: 'Yes my dear'. I know my place.
In the milder months of the year i am a bedtime reader. Dozing off with a book in hand only to be wakened by the sound of said book falling to the floor from my sleeping hand.
It's such a pleasure to lose oneself in a book.... i can't explain though why i have a resistance to begin a reading session (other than at bedtime). Even though i know i will be rewarded.
Enjoyed reading you today.
I've always got lost in books. As a youngster I belonged to two libraries as the maximum number of books you could borrow in a fortnight was 4 from each and I read at least 4 a week.
I like it too.... and words, well where would we be without em eh'
Wordless?
I am ever taken by the ways there are of expressing ourselves - a wonderful language we share.
tis true... no place for a poet... and yes, our language does tend to set us apart ...
Michael,
Great poem and artwork!
One of my favorite pastime is reading!
I love my books 📚!
Thank you for sharing!
