What We Got

Neville

What We Got

I have my routines

You have your rituals

I have my have beens

You have your yet to comes

I have my swear words

You have your idioms

I have my needs

You have your addictions

I have my oath and creed

You have your religion

I have my manuscript

You have your poetry

I have my pride

You have your jealousy

I have my wife and kids

You have your fantasies

I have my firm beliefs

You have your misconceptions

I have my memories

You have your delusions

I have my scars

You display self inflicted wounds

When I have nothing left to lose

Will you still want me

I look at things from both sides now - great concept well expressed and great result.

Funny innit... I suspect our respective review comments must have crossed in the ether... cheers Michael, tis appreciated....... N

If we all saw things in the same way it would be a very boring world.

it would indeed be uniform & where's the beauty in that... unless its a French Maids uniform or summat similar maybe.... Cheers N

A fine write Neville. OK - I'll still want ya. I won't leave ya. I'll stay and sing to ya, mind ya. Would ya rather I left?!

        • Neville

thank you orchidee... no, I would rather you write...

I ain't done 700 hymn-poems though, mind ya. Some are 'said' writes with no tune!

            • Neville

have ya done any hearse one's.......

              • orchidee

Erm, done some on short funereal prayer themes, though me singing them drove folk to early graves! Understandable, eh? lol.

                • Neville

hymns & hearse poems should go down a treat with most folk, I would think.... N

                  Neville,

Look at both sides of the coin and then flip it!
After all is said and done,
you “have nothing left to lose” and she “will still want” to hold on to you...
just like holding on to a treasured and rare gold coin!

A fine write which I enjoyed reading!
Thank you for sharing your poetic pen!

                  Have a wonderful Sunday!

                  ~Laura~

As the psychiatrist told me 'speaking to your second personality, i'd get out now whilst you still can'.
I asked him for a second opinion.

                          • Neville

                            Thought provoking.

At first I read this like a person comparing himself to another, differing perspectives that cannot be reconciled. Though the I seemed supreme. The I seemed worthy. The I had something to lose.

Then I read it like a conversation between self and societal norms and judgements. How society tries to bend people to fit preconceived ideas and notions, until individuation is gone and then there is nothing left of the self.

Then of course I thought of two inner voice fighting amongst themselves.

                            Thought-provoking.

I am me, you are what I want to be

Have often thought on these lines, that you have expressed so well

                              • Neville

You are so very kind.. sometimes, far too good for words... but always welcome and appreciated... Neville
