The poor child groaned
while his mother moaned
''Ah, he's possessed,
Oh, he's been bewitched'',
Superstition bemoaned
.
To the witchdoctor she sped
and was back with murky potions
such yucky stinky lotions
Those mythical concoctions
The woman obeyed the wily witchdoctor
Placed belief in that traditional healer
and the poor child still groaned
but his mama no longer moaned
After two days of tribal treatment
and no lessening of predicament
she thought he needed something more potent
When all it turned out to be was a toothache dent!
But she would hear of no dentist
Like all quacks her witchdoctor had fooled her five senses
For his spells and his chants
held her too in a trance
Quite a weird weirdo is he
Beware the medicine- man!
The devious cunning shaman
Beware that vodoo magic and witchcraft
That so survive on the gullible and the daft.
Yet I was warned to be wary of pharmaceuticals too
They can be harmful chemicals in the long run for you

I found it a little difficult to read with the dark background but that didn't stop me from enjoying it. Super tale refreshingly written.
Thanks soo much , sorry the background was a bit overwhelming, it's a true lil story my house maid tells that I converted to a poem. Cheers!
Very good write, unfortunately those witch doctors can nowadays be heavily disguised.
Oh I see, you mean disguised as doctors or ? Thanks so much for comment!
Thats a good fun storyline. Light hearted but poignant.
Made me think of the con men in religion too.
Yeah it's poignant how they con. Yes there are con men in religion too but that means they are not really truly religious. Terrorists are such con men usually.
Yes, history is usually written by the succesful people and the winners of war. Written in a way which suits them and deleting anything they dont wish to mention. Therefore it becomes false and full of untruths... much like the holy bible has been proven to be.... but still its word is taught to our children and the gullible. Where is the law in all this......
Great write deep mysterious subject matter
keep the coming Zaynab
Thanks soo much for lovely feedback!
Ah - power used badly ends often in sadness for those who need most a healing of ills - - a compelling read where warnings exposed chemicals in most pharmaceuticals.
Yes pharmaceuticals have harmful chemicals too you so right. Misuse and abuse if trust ah. Warmest thanks for a great comment.
The papal encyclical “Rerum Novarum” speaks to the detrimental effects of superstition on the masses: “In presence of such mode of life and such example, prejudice gave way, the tongue of malevolence was silenced, and the lying legends of ancient superstition little by little yielded to Christian truth.” Faith without reason leads to fundamentalist superstition and reason without faith leads to Nihilism. Thanks for the thought provoking write SZK.
Wow that's so great and a pearl of wisdom u stated, faith without reason leads to fundamentalist superstition and reason without faith leads to nihilism, wow wow wow, thanks for adding to my poem, that's why I like the exchange of thoughts via commentary, coz u get to know of others wisdom. Did you say that quote yourself sir? Thanks so much for comment!
No SZK - I can't take credit for that quote - it is a Catholic view in matters concerning Faith and rationality.
Good write my friend. Really enjoyed it, and can relate to the witchings of big pharma...
Oh yes the big pharma also can be conning devious firms. Thanks so much for comment.
