Confessed To Be Christ - Mark's Gospel (9)

Tune: Binchester

('Happy are they, they that love God')

Mark 8 v.27-33

********

Jesus did say, Who do men say

I am, tell me I pray?

Disciples answered, gave reply

As they to Him drew nigh

Some say you are John the Baptist

Some Elijah they wist

You to be, or one of prophets

They you as one enlist

But who do you say that I am?

You see me true, no sham

Peter did say, you the Christ be

I am sure of this, see

Jesus told them to tell no one

That He the promised Son

He who would be rejected, killed

Suffer, then rise, God willed

Peter did say, No, no, Lord this

Shall not be, this way miss

But Jesus rebuked him, for so

Man's way he chose to know

Satan behind his worldly view

To avoid the cross too

Peter thought on the things of men

Distraction's temptings then
