575 SMILES (1)

Michael Edwards

A plate of pink prawns

They are ready to consume

Are they born naked?

In drunken stupor

Slowly sinking to the ground

Cuddling a lamppost.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I have painted a series of penguin pictures which have also appeared on cards. I work out the design first and keep the line drawings (in what you might call a design reference book) for future reference should I wish to repeat any of them. This is the first of the series.

there is a fine line between good and great both on the brush & the pen, not to forget the palate... I love prawns and have slid down many a fine lamp post in me time... a stroke of near genius, methinks.. N

Thanks Neville - did you spot the errant 'T' under the second poem? Don't know where that came from.

      • Neville

I wont tell ya what I made of that...my pleasure regardless... N

Ooh an extra 'T', yes? That mean 'time for tea now'? How much are 'T's these days to use errantly?

        • Michael Edwards

          Each 'T' is 7/6d - that's 3 half crowns.

          Whoever wears a half crown?

You have to be well oiled to slide down a lamppost these days. For what resides at its base? how oft has it been christened/claimed/marked out by a passing canine or maybe one could encounter one of our growing homeless community using the lamplight to read yesterdays Telegraph.
Shall we have a glut of prawns post brexit?

              • Michael Edwards

I HAVE MANY A CROSS WORD TO SAY ABOUT THE Telegraph - in fact its best bits are the crosswords. Good idea to post Brexit - where do we address it to and what its got to do with the prawns - better ask Orchi.

Oops - sorry about the caps - the lock was on.
