What a match, what a match!
Onto the pitch they came,
The team in the Green Shirts,
The team in the White Shirts.
The whistle went,
The ball was kicked
And sailed into the air,
The match had started.
Those in green were undefeated,
Undefeated for twelve matches,
But that came to an end
When the whites came to Dublin.
They showed how to play the game,
Play the game with power,
Play the game with skill,
Play the game with a will to win.
And win they did
In a game of such magnificence.
Yes, England were the winners,
But the bigger winner was there as well,
The big winner was the game,
The game of Rugby Union.

- Comment from author about the poem: England beat Ireland in the Six Nations Rugby Union Match yesterday, Ireland had won twelve home matches on the run and only lost one of their last nineteen matches. I was a very hard game and wonderful to watch England won 32 - 20 but in my view the overall winner was the game of Rugby Union, I was privileged to see a wonderful match of rugby.

Super write Andy and what a match - I was transfixed watching it - coupled with Wales and Scotland it was a great day for the Brits.
It certainly was, three super matches but the Ireland England match was something special for the Game itself.
A fine write again Gold.
Thanks Orchi.
Thanks UNCLE ANDY : RUGBY is a Religion in Zealand and all we ex-Pats gathered in the BAR (early Morning !) to watch the RED ROSES trash the SHAMROCKS proud record. Thanks GOD the Bar served GUINESS or the BREXIT BORDER would have been breached ! Wonderful GAME and a win for each of the Home Nations ENGLAND : WALES & SCOTLAND ! BRIAN LOVES RUGBY : and is cock-a-hoop ! All the KIWIS & MAORIS (who did a HAKA !) were supporting ENGLAND
Love & Blessings to you both : ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Love PAUL & SWING LOW : Great Anthem !
Thanks Angela, it was a great match not just for the England win but for the game of Rugby itself. I too am mad about Rugby and am looking forward to the rest of the Six Nations and the World cup later on in the year.
Just to show how mad I am about Rugby in the last world cup there were 48 matches, I watched 47 of them, I missed the first French match.
