My Granddaughter.

Goldfinch60

All her life I have known her

From that curly haired young baby

To the beautiful young lady she has become.

Her studying has taken her to France,

A place that calls to her so strongly.

Her studying will take her to Italy,

A place where I long to go.

A country full of art,

Full of opera.

We talk of her travels,

We talk of her wishes,

And all the time I am proud,

So proud of this young lady.

This young lady who gives me so much,

So much pleasure,

A young lady of whom I am so proud,

So proud to call her My Granddaughter

  • Comment from author about the poem: Our younger Granddaughter is in her third year at University studying French and Italian. Before Christmas she went to France for six months studying at Strasbourg University. A couple of weeks ago she went to Italy to study at Milan University. France then Italy, it is such a hard life. In her final year she will be back at Birmingham University - not quite the same romance as being in France or Italy.,

So pleased for you - our grandchildren bring us such pleasure. I have only one granddaughter and she is such a lovely lady about to do her A levels so this resonates with me.

Thank you Michael. Grandchildren are so wonderful that I can certainly agree with the saying "If I had known that grandchildren could be so much fun I would have had them first"

Ooh yes, I'm a great-uncle (very old!). My great-nephew was age 4 recently. They have moved away - don't see them much - aww. You got great-great (x1,000) children too?! We should have , being very old, since 1066 at least. The wife's previous surname was triple-barrelled and spelt HRH. Something like 'Heatherstone-Richelieu-Higginbotham!

this super little dedication demonstrates the pure love and pride that can exist between grandparent and grandchild... both of whom I presume are blessed with reciprocated emotion.... N

Four magnificent singers in that clip, I have always enjoyed Juan Diego Florez since I first heard him about fifteen years ago.
Grandchildren are wonderful, our eldest grandson is at Goldsmiths studying guitar.
