Now look... it's all my fault!
Though I try to avoid the blame of it
What's all this Orchi?
Well, I read -
For a time in 1319
The country was ruled from a mansion-house thingy
Near my home town
I was in the Parliament then
And made a lasting impression
So much so that it's always remembered
Every hundred years
So there's an anniversary this year - 700 years
I don't know the exact dates
We'll party in the Summer
In those manor-house grounds still there
The BBC won't like it
They moved in there - probably centuries ago
It's a Monitoring Station now
It's more relaxed these days
I helped pass severe laws then
Such as - death for nicking one pork pie
Or NOT adding water to your tipples
That's all I ever did though
No change since then?!
Just passing laws about porkies and sherries?
I know - some of you say:
How can you tell if a politician is lying?
Answer: They open their mouth!
Anyway, I got to go and hob-nob now with the PM
Not living too far away from me
Ask her about the state of things, etc
And remind her of my valuable contributions
Way back in 1319!
You coming to the anniversary reunion?!

a delightful deviation from your oft daily delivery of hymn poem.. filled with fun, one or two fine facts and timely self disclosure... nice one squire & true...... Neville
Thanks N. Behave, Orchi! Well, it's not Lent yet - needing a bit more decorum. Depends if one observes lent fully or not too.
a change is as good as a rest, they say... although, my pleasure as always sir...

Hello Orchidee,
Thanks for providing much needed nutty relief from the dungeon of hell where I work!
Keep writing Fine B
Thanks Fine.
Looks to be as fun as the new “Downton Abbey” movie coming out this year in America. Nice way to mix things up for a change Orchidee!
Thanks Gary.
Death should be for adding water to tipples Orchi, we went through this in 1066.
