Honour Unfounded.

Goldfinch60

They were elected to represent a party,

So surely if they leave that party

They need to be re-elected.

Most people vote for a party,

Not an individual,

So surely if they are honourable

They will resign their seat,

Enter an election,

By the people they represent,

To see who will win,

The individual,

Or the party.

But surely it is a long time

Since politicians

Were honourable.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Surely if a politician resigns from the party he represents he/she should resign their seat and put up for re-election by the constituents they allegedly represent. Sorry for the rant. ******* (use your own adjective) politicians.

There was a pic of the PM 'chatting' to a dog (probably Fido) outside a fairly local church recently. I've still not had coffee and chat with her there yet. She, a politician, will open her mouth, so.... you know the rest.

    • Goldfinch60

Yes I know the rest Orchi. Thank you.

      Great social documentation G

I find myself RARELY agreeing with EVERY Line I read these days getting old and fractious but with this I do 100%

      • Goldfinch60

        Thank you Andrew.
Getting old and fractious is not a bad thing I am that ways well.

With you all the way Andy. The trouble is not one single party represents the majority of the public so who do I vote for? For the first time in my life if there was an election tomorrow I would probably abstain. And I can't believe I am even thinking this way.

        • Goldfinch60

Yes I know what you mean. I am a true believer in voting and have never missed one, but it woud be hard at the moment to chose for whom to vote. Shall we form a 'Pensioners Party'.

          • Michael Edwards

Sounds good to me - a sort of old farts forum.

            • Goldfinch60

That must be the party's name.

we all need a decent rant every now and again... tis like releasing the valve on the pressure cooker... without doing that, ya gonna do yourself and the kitchen one hell of a mischief ... for anyone who is too young to remember what a pressure cooker is... go ask orchidee for the full definition... Hope you feel better now GF60.... I know I do... N

              • Goldfinch60

I use a pressure cooker quite often.
Yes I am fine, thanks for your comments.

When a politically minded person allocates their loyalty to a political party it will partly be due to the way that party has been led historically. When they feel the current leadership has transgressed the ethical stance of their party then they have the right to rebel in whatever way this country LEGALLY allows. Which is what they have done. Those who don't like it should consider getting a law introduced... i think that may involve going through your MP.. aha ! catch 22.

Hi d a, yes it may be legally correct but most people nowadays vote for the Party, not the person, some probably do not know who their mp is, but surely it must be morally wrong for an sitting mp to leave the party for which they were elected to server. (the non capitalisation is meant)
I would trust my mp as far as I could throw him!

Well there's one accolade these back benchers can claim which is sadly missing in most MPs. They are doing what they believe in for the good of the country. Most MPs seem to want to be a political success at any cost and live a life aloof to the common man. Were it not so i doubt we should find our nation in the mess it has achieved over the last 60 or so years. Ridiculous that it has become 'politically incorrect' to discuss what the common man regards as day to day political issues in this country. No wonder there is a continent wide swing to nationalist politics (and accross the pond too).

shameful politicians, boy do we understand that in the U.S.
