What Do You Drive

What Do You Drive

I said hey do you drive

?

She said only men wild

!

I said hey babe

.

Let’s go for a ride then

.

But she drove me away

&

Then brushed me aside

,

Like a flake or a crumb

.

I had nowhere to hide

.

I said hey babe

,

Let’s take a walk on the..

!

Too late she was gone

.

Oh well

!

It was fun while it lasted

xx

I think it all went wrong at โ€˜hey babeโ€™ lol.

Need to work on your chat up lines!

          Catchy expression of it though.

Played like a comedy sketch in my mind.

Not sure if that was the intention? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Ps by all went wrong I meant the man in your poem not your poem. I liked the poem, it made me laugh. Laughing is good.

          • Neville

Now that is good to hear... bless ya sylviasearcher... thank you .. N

The shame of being taken in by a two-timing dame eh Nev ? - - Loved this fun poem with its excellent flow and amazing rhyme-schemes - am still singin' it in my head.

            • Neville

I can hear that baritone sax solo..... and the coloured girls say 'do da do - dad doo dad doo' etc

Feels odd writing 'coloured' in 2019

The song by Lou Reed was actually about a transvestite friend of his so maybe the 'lady' in your piece did u a favour being gone. But i don't know which way you swing LOL.

              • Neville

Hey DA, good to see you here.. yes, that is some sax innit and of course you would know all about that... I did know the inspiration behind the original song but must admit I like the song so much it could have been written about anything.. or anyone.. Many thanks for checking in... and just for the record, forgive the pun... I swing it my way.. or was that Frank Sinatra... N ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoyed the read but haven't a clue how Lou Reed's (who is Lou Reed - must google him) Walk On The Wild Side goes - might know if I heard it though,.

                • Neville

No problem, if you enjoyed the read, minus Lou Reed, there is no harm done.. if you are intrigued you could visit him via Youtube..... cheers anyway Michael.... N
