Tune: St Francis Xavier
('My God, I love thee, not because')
Philippians 4 v.4-7
*********
Rejoice here in the Lord always
Here throughout all life's days
Let your moderation be known
It to all men (mankind) be shown
For the Lord is at hand, He near
Be not anxious, nor fear
But in everything by prayer
With Him all need do share
Pray with thanksgiving, let requests
Be made known to God, best
Is, and His peace which surpasses
Understanding, shall bless
Shall bless you, and keep hearts and minds
Through Christ Jesus, thus find
His help sometimes beyond us, yet
His love on us is set
Anxiety, thinks o'er and o'er
What solution, what more
Can I do to relieve my care
And so no more it bear
Left to ourselves, we think again
And are concerned of when
We shall leave this, our anxious state
E'en may ourselves berate
God's peace, it not dependent on
Our finding solution
Nor depends on understanding
How He will solve each thing

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. metre. I could only find this clip with this tune. Some notes from a study included in the last two or three verses.

Ah' now then.. when it comes to anxiety.. I'm ya man..
are there any particular interventional approaches you would prefer to steer clear of...normally I would suggest some kinda talking therapy.. but if necessary we could work incrementally toward the full blown 21st century labotomy via the lacrimal duct... just let me know...
Thanks N. Erm, I won't go so far as a lobotomy (nothing in me head-shell anyway?). I'm more anxious about spelling 'alleviating' properly! I don't like spooky 'empty your mind' approaches. Not that there's anything in me mind much, so some say! lol.
maybe just stick to the pills.....
Thanks UNCLE STEVE ~ Great Tune ~ Great Hymn ! Love the POEM based on a Fantastic passage. We all need more ~ Self control ~ Prayer ~ Peace ~ AMEN !

Thanks B&A.
Excellent Orchi
I'm glad he doesn't judge us as much as we judge him
Happy Sunday
Thanks Andrew. Yes, it says in so many words: 'Who do you think you are, to judge someone else'? Probably a modern version, that is.
Good one Orchi, God is always there.
Thanks Gold.
