THE LADY AND HER DOG
Both with hair that regal flowed
incurious with common code
they stood with noses in the air
beside the fountain in the square
and with their parallel appearance
could it be the Lady too
squats on pavements
for a poo.

Great write Michael.
In our Church the Choir have a collection plate of their own and I am normally the one that takes it to the alter.
Yes practices do vary - I've got about 30 of these cartoons and will bore you with them over the next few weeks. They went down well in the magazine but eventually I ran out of ideas.
Thanks for the inspiration by the way.
Your cartoons will never bore me Michael. This one reminded me of a poem I wrote many years ago, I have put it on today.
Oh lol, swoon! That's me then, as one of the Choir. But I never joined Choir. I preferred paying up when the 'hat' came round! (Did I?).
One church got too keen - two 'hats' in one service, i.e. two rounds of collections in same service. That's going over the top.
Have you ever been to a Catholic service - certainly at our local Catholic church it's not a matter of another hat but rather one of incessant pleas for donations from Church funds to Father John's bore hole.
Rarely been myself - Miss Berles been?
She's gone to visit a bore hole.
Did you mean the sermons were a bore?!
He’s a rhymer and lyricist
A versifier, elegist
One whom makes a religion
Of metrical composition
His 575’s makes you LOL
But damn it the man can draw as well
I’m sure there’s two of him
YES!... aha! It’s a swindle
Oh well never mind...
May his art never dwindle!
Thanks for the first laugh of he day again Michael
Ah thats so touching - a super write Andrew - not sure I'm that worthy but I do appreciate and take encouragement from your continued support - thanks once again.
Super cartoon here Michael - a smile too at your well rhymed first smile of my day.
Thank you Fay - actually I'm quite prim and proper - never swear so not sure where this came from - ah yes - I'll blame Goldy.
Really funny piece today. So many snooty ladies with their lapdogs roam our land. I shall never regard them in the same way again.
Interesting to read your comments on use of rhyme. My feelings exactly.
Cheers dusk - I cringe when I read another moon/June poem - so many sound so constrained with a total lack of spontaneity.

It conjures up some strange images not often seen on the streets of Market Harborough. Cheers FB.
