Time Lost in Words.

Goldfinch60

I sit with the page before me

And the words come tumbling out.

My mind, heart and soul

Are so full of them

That all else is forgotten

And I become lost,

Lost in the world of poetry,

Where time ceases to exist.

The words go on the page

From my never empty mind

Until I look up

And find that time has disappeared,

Disappeared onto the page,

With the words that I have written,

And needed to be there,

As these words need to be.

So true - I also get lost and lose all idea of time - when an idea comes I just have to get the bones down on paper and then fill it in the flesh with words.

Yes Michael, it is so easy to lose time with words.

A fine write Gold. Sometimes I give myself a time limit. Time to write a 'shortie' maybe. But not to rush it, as I can always come back to a partially-completed poem.

I try not to limit my time but it can be restricted sometimes depending on the situation at home.

I have so many unfinished pieces which i think stem from the occasions you describe.
Good old Dizzy, do you know the story of his bent trumpet?. Here is an interpretation of one of his pieces i think you may like:-

Thank you d a, those I tend to finish my pieces in tow goes, put the words on the page and then check them.
I have just looked up why Dizzy's trumpet was bent - serves him right for putting his trumpet down where people could fall on it.
As for the David Sanborn track, I had never heard of him but it is terrific and I will have to look into his work.

As you are aware my inspiration comes from a multitude of things, I wrote two poems in the Coffee Bar yesterday.

Work? WORK! Oh yes, I remember work.
