YOU DO NOT SEE
On mountain outlines to the east
as bats begin to fly
the staining sun supports its chin
before departing from the sky
and searching where you saw him flee
the ebbing light revealing not
you look yet do not see.

Good write Michael. There are so many who look but do not see.
Good cartoon, I never get the winning card.
Even when it's light - thanks Andy.
Love it - - love the style and metre of these semi-archaic lines Michael - and what a chuckle the sketch gave me - you are really artful my friend.
Thanks Fay. As a non-Christian I was always a bit iffy about these but I'm pleased to say that they well received and adopted by a couple of religious magazines (one of them a glossy) - everyone should be able to step back and see the bunny side - it would be a sad world if we couldn't.
A fine write and pic M. You had tips form Gold and I? as in 'archaic lines'?!
It's a spiritual thing too - it's said some folk 'see, but don't perceive'; they 'hear but don't understand'.
An idiom - the outcome or result is expressed as though it were the intention.
What's all this from me this time of morning? You with me still? You know Waff Earl, or Earl Waff?
I know Waff Earl - he's friends with that little chap - what's his name? Ah yes - Shaw Tarse.
You brought out the bat in me until i realised the blood had gone to my head. All that blood and as blind as a bat. No wonder i was useless at cricket.
Love that line "the staining sun supports it's chin".. my future sunsets are going to be haunted by your phrase.
Aw thanks Dusk - at least it won't be a scary haunting.
Help lol. I was online, but not 'seen'. It said 'No users are online'. Well I was in the E-mail section. heehee.
At least you weren't in the Fe-mail section.
there is far more to this than meets the eye.. am sure there will be many ways to interpret these words.. for me tho.. I see myself standing in the shadow of a minaret, a church and a temple looking out across the rooftops as the sun sets and wondering... I have been there before and thank you for taking me there again.... Neville
Love your interpretation - I won't be able to read this again without your thoughts coming to mind. Thanks Neville.
you made it happen... so thank you again Michael...
Goodbye sun for today. We saw some of it! Bit better than being caught in a hailstorm yesterday!
Those evenings still dark there? Let there be light soon, though we force it, by losing the hour.
It is dark - especially when you put the lights out. Actually it would be better if we just switched them off rather than put them out in the rain.
Yes, strange that - why nights are dark?! Hmm. Have they always been so?
Bingo, another winner. East vs. West. The fleeing Sun drops for the night, and the bats know what to do.We often see what is not there and as you say we"look yet do not see." Human foibles abound. A richness for the poet. Got a good chuckle and an eye opener. Thanks .-Phil A.
Cheers Phil
