TO HAVE FRIENDS ~ YOU NEED TO BE FRIENDLY !
I GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP ~ FROM MY FRIENDS
We all love to have a FRIEND
One on whom we can depend
W e also need to have a CHUM
Who sticks with us ~ when were glum
When things get rough we need a MATE
Who's always waitin' at the gate !
We also need a CONFIDANT
When all around us "rave & rant"
If you plan to hike Grand Canyon
Don't go alone ! Take a COMPANION
At Work ~ when fings ain't goin' great
What you need's ~ an ASSOCIATE !
When Love goes wrong ~ You lost your Gal
Shoulder to cry on ? That's when you need a PAL
THANKS for visit ~ comments please ~ Love A & B 🧡🧡🧡

Good synonyms A and B. True friends are so important in our lives.
Thanks UNCLE ANDY : Synonyms of a word like FRIEND do have slightly different meaning ! English is a very rich language and a good knowledge of synonyms is always useful to a Poet for rhyme & meter ! We all need Friends for all sorts of reasons. My MUM always taught me "To have a FRIEND : You must be a FRIEND !"
Blessings & Love to you BOTH :

Great sentiments but the answer to friendship and an end to loneliness lies in our own hands. On retirement both my wife and I went out of way to join various groups and interact with others - you only get out of life what you put in. We both have a large circle of friends and are never short of something to do - tonight I have arranged for a group of 7 of us to go to a restaurant where there is a show between courses - last night I was at a committee meeting - the night before we went to the theatre with other friends. I fail to understand those who sit at home and complain about loneliness.
VERY TRUE UNCLE MIKE : Your comment underlines our MANTRA "To have Friends you must be Friendly". You Retirement activities are a blueprint to combat loneliness are excellent. Good Retirement Homes have a good social programme ! Brian & I are extroverts and in our chosen professions we have to be Positive Thinkers and good communicators : so I guess when we retire (2050 ?) we will follow your example ! There are genuine shut-in who are lonely but there are also many who won't get off BUTT ! As a PHYSIO I always proscribe "ACTIVITY" for my retired Clients ~ AMEN Thanks for sharing :

Nothing like friends and we can create them if we go out of our way to find folk we relate to. Good points made here A&B
THANKS FAY ~ My Folks moved round quite a lot so I had to make a new set of LOCAL FRIENDS in every new County and learn the foibles of the County. I found Essex Boys quite friendly but Essex Girls are something else ~ all White Handbags & Stilettos. Angela had a Spanish Heritage (which I love) and was raised in London @ A private International School & London University ! I like Girls who are both Educated & Cosmopolitan ~ We were Friends before we were an ITEM ! As My Mum says you have to BE a Friend to HAVE a Friend ~ AMEN. Pleased you enjoyed the Presentation ~
BLESSINGS & LOVE ~

I love this poem. It's always good to have friends that care and who'll be there for you and that you can be there for.
THANKS BC : PLEASED IT STRUCK A CHORD WITH YOU. For Me (especially as I am in New Zealand with my Best Friend RUTH) life without Friends would be unbearable ! My BEST MALE FRIEND is of course my Fiancee BRIAN ! Even though we are 11,500 miles apart : when he comes on SKYPE its like he's by my side ! We are also 13 hours apart so its already SATURDAY here 7:30 am and I am up early catching up on MPS !
