Dark To Light

orchidee

Tune: Halton Holgate

('Firmly I believe and truly')

Psalm 13

*********

How long, LORD, will you forget me?

For ever? Look on me, see

How long will you from me your face

Hide? I not your mercies trace

How long shall I take counsel in

My soul, with sorrow within

Daily I grieve, O LORD, how long

Shall I be my enemies song?

Consider, O LORD, my God, hear

Me, lighten my eyes, draw near

Lest I do the sleep pf death sleep

Come to my help, I your sheep

Lest my enemy shall then say

I have prevailed in this day

Against him, and those that trouble

Me rejoice to see my fall

But I have trusted in you here

And your mercy does appear

My heart shall rejoice so gladly

In your salvation daily

I will sing unto the LORD, for

He has dealt bountiful, sure

With me, I come from dark to light

Precious I be in His sight

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.7.8.7. to hopefully comfort and encourage if you're in a 'dark place' at the moment. So not all the Psalms are 'Alleluia, Praise the Lord', though in every one there appears some light, however dim at times. The tune name is an actual place in Lincolnshire, UK.

That light is so precious, may we all come to it.

Thanks Gold. A sort of paraphrase to this, but irreverent, might be 'Get your finger out; Do something, Lord!'

      Day then night
      dark then light
      or is it vice versa?

      Nice one Orchi

Thanks M. Well, in Genesis them evenings were still around. It's said 'Evening and morning, the first day..... the second day, etc... were created'. The Jewish days go from evening to evening - they go to bed to start their day. Good idea?! You gone back to bed?

This verse certainly praises the wonders of change from dark to light and its grand Maker.

Thanks UNCLE STEVE : For a Morning uplift : its 10 am here in Auckland ! Love your Organ Recitals ! Every Church should have a PIPE ORGAN which can generate the whole spectrum of sounds from Funereal to Happy Clappy ! Love PSALM 13 because like some days it begins on a LOW : How long will you forget me O Lord ? And it ends on a HIGH : I will sing unto the Lord : because he has dealt bountifully with me ! Psalm 13 lucky for some !

Thanks B&A. In counselling type thingys, they say that if you say 'But', it cancels out what you just said. I think the turning point in this is the 'But' - 'As for me, I will....' etc.

The title says it all. I like that phrase, "Dark to Light." It says a lot about people and how they interact with negativity. Still at it Orch, glad to see it.
