In Our Lives

Goldfinch60

In our lives we have so many emotions.,

The sadness can overwhelm us

Nothing seems to go right.

In those times I lose myself,

Lose myself in words,

Lose myself in music,

Lose myself in art,

Lose myself in nature.

There are so many things out there,

Out there where I can get lost,

And move from the darkness.

In our lives we have so many emotions.

And happiness is there within us.

It may not be seen

But it is there to be found,

Found in words,

Found in music,

Found in art,

Found in nature.

There are so many things out there,

Out there to bring happiness to life,

And move us into the light

  • Comment from author about the poem: It is the fifteenth birthday today of the daughter of a friend of ours. I was talking to our friend the other day and she said that her daughter was suffering from severe depression and was having to see medics about it. I wrote this for her.

Been trying to find the light in my fellow human as of late.
A wonderful piece, Finch. I hope she likes it.

The light is always there, sometimes it needs the flames to be encouraged.

        Very true.

Good write Gold. How long will the sermon be today? Home in time, that your roast won't be burnt?

        • Goldfinch60

The sermon was 26 minutes 43 seconds, not that I was timing it of course.

Oh how I hope she overcomes it - so hard in one so young and a great write which I am sure she will appreciate.

          • Goldfinch60

It is so hard to see this happening in the young, I too hope she gets over it.

Thanks UNCLE ANDY ~ We love the fact that so so many of your poems spring out of HUMAN SITUATION ! If you can help somebody ~ then you do ! (Please check our POEM today ~ OUR SELF RESPECT). Thanks for highlighting CLEO and the late JOHNNY DANKWORTH ! JAZZ has to be interpreted and they ALWAYS made its message very clear & very plain ~ AMEN !
We appreciate your POEM because that is what we do to alliviate our separation (11,500 miles) for over 8 months apart from my August trip. We do SKYPE every day ~ email etc ! ANGELA is always busy SAILING : SINGING : SHOPPING etc and WORKING of course ~ So she too finds HAPPINESS (despite the separation !) in Words : Music : Art : Nature & SHOPPING etc. I have spoken to NORWICH HOSPITAL for her next WORK EXCHANGE ! I find Happiness in a similar list except SHOPPING !
Blessings & Love to YOU & Your Family

Thank you A and B. The human situation is all around us but some just do not see, or want to see, so I hope I can make people aware.
You both know as well as I do that there are ways of coming out of dark places in our lives. Some people just do not know how to do it, all I try to do is help them with words.

Emotions, yes we are the one specie with loads of emotions, differing emotions, contradictory emotions, almost everything we do is cloaked in emotions - too many emotions. After all we are creatures of emotions

              • Goldfinch60

Yes Suresh but the emotions that the youngsters seem to go for are those that pull them into a darkened place.

Absolutely brilliant then I read your notes and within a breath I felt my throat. I know how this can go and hope yours words will help her find her own.
                Much love and respect

                • Goldfinch60

Thank you so much for your kind words Dan.
