CAGE: 4 minutes 33 seconds
The silent wind and string
to which I listened
in mute admiration
and eagerly awaited
the next performance
heard in silence.
CREED: Work No 227
In changing light
with eyes wide open
I slowly enter
the empty room,
alone,
a work of art
I view unseen.
If you are not familiar with the work of these two artists you may wish to look them up. Cage 'wrote' a piece of music in which the instruments remained silent whist Creed exhibited an art work which consisted of an empty room. This is a re-post of something I first posted just over 2 years ago and is repeated following a discussion about Cage's work against Orchidee's posting yesterday.

Ah, the fabled poem has arrived! The fact you wrote about this is cool in itself. Thanks for the re-post Michael.
My pleasure - thanks Nicholas
In 2010 there was a scheme to get 4'33" to the top of the charts at Christmas - it nearly came it got to 21 but the BBC refused to play it so it could have got further.
As you know my love of art is very eclectic and I am sure that I would have found something in Work No 227.
In some congregations they can act like sheep.
Not just congregations where they act like sheep. Even in car parks where we stick to the same spot each time and get annoyed if someone else has used it.
Fine writes and pic Michael. And.... you done that work of art 'An Unmade Bed'? My bed is gonna be in an exhibition. lol.
Oh lol, I saw an exhibit called 'Unmade' or something. I thought it was a pile of rubbish. I nearly tidied it up!
Now how am I gonna get my bed to the show?
Just come up with a masterpiece - I call it: 'Made Bed' - not sure if I want to sell it - I'll sleep on it.
An extraordinary form of "art" methinks Michael - would rather by far see your lovely watercolours adorning a room.
Art is something that stimulates the senses - but it doesn't have to be everyone's senses.
Having said that I can't say these stimulate mine.

Shhh - I heard that!
Thanks A&B .
What do they do for an encore?
Your poem says it all. My only question is Why? In whose eyes is this art? Oh well to each their own. Loved your poem and cartoon.
P.S. I think I'll write a poem entitled "Ode to Nothingness," and leave the page blank. - Phil A.
Or you could call it: How To Save Ink lol
Thanks Phil
