On this day he was born
Three hundred and thirty four years ago.
He is held in such high esteem.
He is held in wonder.
We talk of other composers,
Talk of the wonderful music
Given to us all.
We discuss it at length,
We listen to it forever,
But when his name is mentioned
Emotion fills my soul,
And all I can utter,
Is “Aah, Bach”.

In my top selection of composers - his music generates such emotion - fine tribute Andy.
Thank you Michael.
The top four composers are Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and your own particular favourite of the moment.
I would put Brahms instead of Mozart who I find less emotional and of course Mahler.
One of my favourite pieces of work is Brahms First Symphony, over my many years I have heard it countless times and I ALWAYS here something new in it.
I just happen to have all of Mahlers works as well. His piece Das Lied von der Erde sung by Kathleen Ferrier is supreme - https://youtu.be/PogZpvxq6Cg.
A lovely write and clip Gold.
A church has a 'highlight' of remembering Archbishop Thomas Cranmer's martyrdom today. Not exactly 'the joys of Spring' but neither was it for him in 1556. Were we there in person in Oxford?
Of course we were there we needed something to laugh at!
Were you or I the prosecutor at his trial? Or both of us? Doh! That church does not exactly rub heir hands in glee, and said 'oh, goody' though. It's the Protestant emphasis, you see.
I'm not much into Orchestra music, haven't really had the time to get into it.
What I am into is poetry, and the feeling of respect you show for Bach is clear to see.
A lovely piece.
Thank you Nicholas, I have been listening to Classical and Jazz music for over 60 years and am still surprised at my ignorance. I also listen to many other types of music. To my mind there are only two type of music - that which you like and that which you don't.
That's a simple way to sum it up. I'll keep that in mind.
I think it is just great how you can craft something like this... and I take my hat off to you sir....
Thank you Neville, so kind.
