Mystery.
Iron-hard the half-shell of a once sporty
sea-cavalier now finished and washed
beach-ward pulls at my heartstrings.
Open his predator claw as if still caught
in hunger's need and waiting to pinch
out life for crab does not release.
Weapon of death made in tendon form
tough and unbreakable the injured
limb hung by fused steel hinges.
Oh what mystery lies deep underneath
oceans which if but once understood
would revolutionise thinking.

Mucho Grato nevertheless Nev - - ha - - is that a Malapropism I wonder -???
Hey Fay, looks and sounds like it might well be, so they say..
Super salty stuff Fay - and there is so much to learn from exists beneath the waves.
Oh I do agree there is much under water we nothing about Mike - - bless you for the visit and comment.
There may very well be the cure for cancer at the bottom of the ocean somewhere.
A lovely write, Fay.
A healer is salt to many disorders and the sea has much to offer Nick - - so pleased you dropped by and gave me your comment.
Such a last verse to make one sit up and think today. Could the mystery simply be 'harmony'? A commodity which humanity has grasped in small quantity only to witness it's slipping through our fingers time after time.
Earlier, reading, my thoughts painted pictures of the pathetic tragedy a corpse presents as it is rolled and dismembered by a now cruel tide. A once beautiful creation reduced to this. Here i am also mindful of the ruined bodies of roadkill we see all too often.
Vivid pictures today.
Grateful thanks for this input about the state of humanity D.A. - we would benefit so much by listening and looking at nature a lot lot closer methinks.
Empathy for the crab? Truly a poet's response. Much so that a poem is written, and mysteries theorized. If we completely understood the Ocean, we might be able to save ourselves. A very nice description and cause for thinking. Thanks for posting this reminder of two thirds of our planet that seems to go unnoticed.- Phil A.
Thanks an ocean dear Phil for your visit and interesting comment - - I agree wholeheartedly that the vast expanse of deep water on earth and its inhabitants' habits need to be studied then perhaps humanity may find many medicines we never thought existed.
The sea still hols so many mysteries Fay, I wonder if they will ever be solved.
