Music in the Stars.

Goldfinch60

Who was this playing,

Playing into my soul.

Right from the first note

They had captured me

Into their amazing music.

She was so young,

How could she play so well?

Straight from her heart,

Into mine.

Then he played,

Chet was back,

Reincarnated in his soul.

Such wonderful music,

Just five of them

Producing this sound,

This sound of my heaven.

Time vanished.

It was over,

But it had only just begun.

But their music will never stop

As it is flowing,

Flowing into the ether waiting,

Waiting for me on that day,

That day when My Spirit rises

And joins the music,

The music in the stars.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I saw this group last night, I had not seen the saxophonist before but has seen the others, it was a supreme night of my absolute favourite type of jazz. Alex Clarke...Alto and tenor Sax, Jamie Brownfield....trumpet, Tom Kincaid....piano, Jim Swinnerton....bass and Jack Cotterill....drums was the line-up.

A fine musical write Gold. I know a group where they have occasional jazz/country style/etc performers some weeks. Other weeks it's D-I-Y with group members showing their own talents, bit like BGT - Britain's Got Talent!

    • Goldfinch60

Sounds like a great place perhaps you and Fido should give them the chance to hear your musical diligence.

Ahem, it cost 3 times as much per session, when they have guest performers. Not over £7 maximum though. I di read - and sang once - at one of their meetings. Not been for a while. Aww, why not many there the week after I sang - and Fido howled melodically?! heehee.

Thank you Angela. This was not Trad Jazz it was more in the style of West Coast and Cool Jazz, in one number they went into BeBop as well.

To be there and feel the essence of trad music must have been heaven - great read Goldy and so glad you shared the magic. Jazz is my cup of tea too.
