Tune: Hereford
('O thou who camest from above')
Based on Galatians 3 v.10-14
**********
We are made right, are justified
God, His grace to us not denied
We made righteous through Christ the Son
He redeems, saves us, holy one
I cannot bring an offering
Of my good deeds, no, not one thing
Will it achieve for salvation
Christ only saves, calls each nation
But now in Christ good deeds I do
Empowered by His Spirit new
Cursed every one hung on a tree
Christ on the cross-tree died for me
My sins there taken, there my place
He did take my curse by His grace
The curse to e'er fulfil the law
In each detail, I fail for sure
My punishment on Jesus laid
He that day by Judas betrayed
Salvation now for all is seen
Washed in His blood, I now made clean
Not I alone, but all who will
Trust Him for their redemption still
Redeeming price, His life He paid
When He for us His life down laid

A curse made curseless maybe but clearly not verseless the old 8, 8, 8, 8's always get me..
Thanks Neville. Oops, yes, very technical - 8888 is Long Metre. It can't be 7 or 9! Is curseless a word? Spell-checker don't like it.
spell checker is the curse of the 21st century..
Woof! Fido won't let me give an example of a naughty word that slipped in, when the spell-checker thought it was a word spelt correctly. Come on Fido - Woof! Now no-one will ever know that word.
You never can tell
Guess the word?! I can't reply in public though.
I admire the metre and also the rhyming in this lovely verse - - fine write again Orchi
Thanks Fay. If I don't stick to me metres it throws everything out! lol.
There are too many of us and only one of HIM
The words expressed are beautiful in this HYMN
From all these words let's take a lead
Lessen HIS load by taking responsibility for our deeds
Thanks Suresh. And yet the Bible says to 'Cast our cares (loads, burdens, etc) on Him; for He cares for us'. Not that we just dump them on Him, and live irresponsibly though.
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
