There they were, two of them,
Laying in the hospital beds,
Both very ill, both bedbound,
Nearing their final breaths.
One by the window,
The other nearer the door.
When lunch was over the one by the window
Told of what was happening in the park
Which the window overlooked.
There were children frolicking,
Playing on the swings,
With mothers looking on,
Smiles over their faces.
Those who walked their dogs,
The dogs running around,
Chasing balls,
Chasing tails,
Chasing each other.
The old couples,
Slowly walking with each other,
Holding hands.
Once a week a cricket match,
Which the man described with skill
And with humour.
The sun was always shining
And always plenty going on.
The man by the door got jealous,
“Why shouldn’t I look out of the window?”
He thought.
He became more frustrated and annoyed.
Then one day the man by the window passed
And went to the park in the sky.
The other man was moved to the window,
He struggled to sit up to look out at the park.
But what he saw surprised him
As all he saw was a wall.

A fine write Gold. He did not see it, because of his jealousy?
I read a 'technical' thing maybe. Jealousy can be in a sense of wanting what is rightfully one's own (as in a jealous God, anyway).
Envy is wanting what is someone else's, and not one's own by right.
Thanks Orchi, the man was being so kind.
Thanks Gold. I see that side of it too.
Thanks for sharing UNCLE ANDY : Not often we get HUGH on Piano : nice touch ! I love this POEM : "Its all in the Mind" but it brought JOY to his fellow bed-bound Mate. When we come back from Holiday we often embelish what we have seen & heard & tasted & experienced for Elderly Friends who are no longer able to travel !
Blessings & Love to you BOTH
Its 8pm here another MONDAY over ! Yours ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

What a surprise ending to this meaningful write dear friend - thank you for sharing it - much food for thought here.
Thank you Fay, the world is full of wonderful people.
This is one of those I shall read again - in fact I'll pop it into favourites.
I am honoured Michael, thank you.
Ah the imaginary Vista. The man creating his own world which gave him some peace inhis courageous fight against his adversity. Captured so well my friend. The Club cap is off in your honour.
Thank you moordy for raising your cap.
Beautiful. The first man knowing his time was near was recounting the beauty of life and needing to reaffirm this by vocalising.
Yes this is the finest piece i have read in a long long time Goldfinch. An absolute pleasure to read and i thank you for this uplift on a grey and rainy April day.
A must for my favourites.
Thank you d a, much appreciated.
Your Imagination framed his window into a living screen
So kind, Suresh, thank you.
