WOMAN IN BLACK

Michael Edwards

Ungainly in black

Woebegone in widowhood

A forlorn woman.

Powerful write. One of our friends has recently lost her husband, he was Greek and apparently the Greek tradition is that when the husband dies the wife must wear black for three years - she is following that tradition.

Intriguing picture; how to you get that out of focus effect?
I can do it with a camera time and time again (and deliberately).

    • Michael Edwards

I use a lot of water and a strong paint mix - wet the paper below the sharp edge line then paint a strong mix and allow the bottom of the painted line to merge into the wet - hope that's clear.

Thanks Michael, yes got it, it works very well.

Tragedy is draped in different colors around the globe - in India, it is white

        Your art is always mesmerizing

A fine write and pic Michael. Miss Berles wear black?

        • Michael Edwards

No blue - have you seen all the Blue Berles in flower in the woods at the moment?

          • orchidee

Well yes, I would see them, but part of a wood is overgrown. Can't walk through it. You done any Ram Berles?

Thanks UNCLE MIKE : Love the Pic n' Poem ! BLACK is an almost Universal Coulour of Mourning ! I often add a touch of PINK to my BLACK SUIT for a FUNERAL !
Blessings & Love to You & Yours

Three good words you use here for describing the colour of mourning in this country - - - it certainly can look woebegone and ungainly too on some forlorn people. Love the mist in your picture today Mike.

Just as it should be, unless the widow wishes to look attractive.
In all, sadness portrayed. Very powerful piece. Less is more.

            • Michael Edwards

Thanks dusk. I do love short writes that (hopefully) pack a punch.
