LETTING GO.

Fay Slimm.

Letting Go.

Such is the enormity of saying
goodbye
to a time-honoured love,
that oceans of heartache could never
contain
the unmeasurable flood
of immaculate pain needed before
letting go.

I have been there before and
I know.

Goodbyes are always hard, is it because out of sight leads to out of mind?

    • Fay Slimm.

Yes maybe -- yet often the heartache keeps coming back like a song. Thanks for your comment Suresh.

Forever letting go but never quite completely...............

                • Fay Slimm.

Words cannot convey agonies nor ecstacy when felt first hand. The reader has to fill the spaces from their own experiece. As your words show.

For me 'the immeasurable flood' is always topped with a reflection. Whereas the flood has depth of pain, the reflection is of equally tall mountains of pleasure scaled within the relationship. In this way I preserve a positive view of things passed.

                  • Fay Slimm.

And so right you are to find the positive and end with that -- thanks a load for your input my friend.

                          My Dear Fay,

                          “Letting Go”...is painful!
Time does not heal wounds and/or pain! The span of time might lessen the pain until a birthday and/or an anniversary comes along...and then full force we feel that pain again! We learn to cope with it but never “Letting Go” of it!

                          A sensitive and beautiful write!

                          ~Laura~

"Letting go" of love is painful beyond description. We are left with an enormous vacancy in life, as though standing on the precipice of the Grand Canyon.
Beautifully penned. It captures the heartbreak and flood of emotion, that follows. Where does one go from there? Loved your poem. - Phil A.
