BRIAN is a qualified Fell Walk & Mountain Leader for Geology
Field Trips. So for today & the Glacier he insisted on Boots and
Alpine Stick for the rough terrain. We are both very fit. Brian
made sure I was nice and warm at all times. We enjoyed the
Scenery in Mount Cook National Park but to have attempted
an ascent would have required and additional five days ! Brian
was disappointed : I was relieved ! It was cool 10C = 50F. There
was frost in the VW VAN in the Morning & I saw my first NZ SNOW !

You fainted, actually seeing snow in NZ?! You come down off that mountain yet?! Fido says it's too steep for him. lol.
THANKS UNCLE STEVE : FIDO would love it : frolicking in the SNOW. I was in Auckland all Winter (June - July - August !) and didnt see a flake of SNOW ! Now in NZ Autumn I am knee deep in it ! YES were off the Mountain (its 8:30pm MONDAY) and we have motored to FRANZ JOSEF GLACIER (now 10C = 50F) ready to explore tomorrow when it will be sunny & dry. Due to Global Warming FJG is melting and has been retreating rapidly since 2008 ! Thanks for your lively comments !

Thanks FAY ~ Global Warming has a lot to answer for. Melting GLACIERS and Snow & Ice Fields on high Mountains and at the Poles ! That in turn causes loss of HABITAT & Sealvele rise & Coastal Erosion etc etc. Many of these thing are ireversible ! Pleased you enjoyed the Production and the Pictures ! You can see why Im keeping ANGELA very safe ! Her five Maori Trainees will finish their Practical (Hands-on) rogramme with her in OCTOBER also I need to be back @ work on Monday 9th May ~ All perfect things have to come to an end ! Mount Cook has been Awesome ! Its now 11pm (Monday) and we have arrived at Glacier Caravan Park for the NIGHT ~ Good Night !

Thanks UNCLE MICHAEL ~ we like to keep our Circle of Friends on MPS informed of our whereabouts. We had to spend an extra day in Queenstown ~ in order to get a dry day (Tuesday) for Franz Josef. We have booked our return flight (Christchurch to Auckland) for Wednesday Afternoon ! That will give me two days to chill in Auckland before flying back to Blighty (My Grandads word for the UK !) on Saturday ! Angela has promised me a TOP to TOE relaxing Massage to compensate for all the walking & driving. We leave the VW VAN (spotless of course !) at Christchurch Airport and recover our $150 (NZ) deposit. We have kept it immaculate but we havnt been over Arthurs Pass (3000 + feet) yet !

Thanks MOORDY ~ Pleased you are enjoying the SAGAS of South Island NZ. Its now 10:30am and we at FRANZ JOSEF GLACIER ! We have walked up to see it ~ it is ginormous close up ! ANGELA surprised me by telling me she had booked a Helicopter Ride over the GLACIER at 12 Noon ~ cant wait ! Layer we will be travelling to ARTHURS PASS ~ and we will be half way back to Christchurch to catch the Plane back to AUCKLAND and the South island Saga will be complete ! Thanks SURESH ~ Yes indeed NEW ZEALAND is a great place to observe Nature & Nurture at work in its complex Food Chains and Food Webs ! Its 10:30am (TUESDAY) here and we have been to see the Franz Josef Glacier close up it is awesome ! Angela surprised me by booking a Helicopter flight for 12 Noon I am very excited ! Then we will move on to Arthurs Pass for the night which will take us half way to CHRISTCHURCH for the Plane back to Auckland N Island on WEDNESDAY !
