UNFETTERED.

Fay Slimm.

Unfettered.

Walking the cliff-path toward unfettered love-grounds
and dreaming of rights
I saunter alongside the edge for a look down.

After too long on the level the height makes me heady.
and now I wonder if I go ahead will I regret ?

Hearing the sound of excitement approaching I duck
under worn threads of my
cell-quiet past, yet find I welcome the thunder.

As late-love's storm approaches I look round to catch
my long-ago shadow with
romantic pigtails and laugh but with me, not at.

"Go for it lady" my former girl says "You have been
too long under cover" we
agreed then to act, my alter-ego-other and me .

A curtain was lifted on things that I need to digest
about life and opinions but
of one thing I'm certain, from now I say "Yes."

I might swoon if I work out all the metaphors! lol. Is this the same lass as the other day? If it is, she's a busy gal, to be sure. She got no time to settle down for her Horlicks every evening! lol.

    • Fay Slimm.

No time at all has that lass dear Orchi.

Many thanks for your kind visit and read dear Andrew -- so glad you picked out the word Freedom to describe the mood of my words in Unfettered.

A change of thinking in a very positive vein and now you will say YES I hope somebody asks the right question. My usual now admiring thanks to You for another fine verse

Am glad you enjoyed the positive end of the read my friend - - saying a Yes can mean a door to freedom opens for some.

apologies for my late response my friend... I have visited these words several times already today.. it would be far too easy just to congratulate you for another very fine poem ... however, I feel it was only fitting to try and rise to the challenge and consider each metaphor in succession.... having now done so.... I think it is reasonable to suggest that your poem 'Unfettered' might be seen and interpreted in several quite different ways... there is of course the feeling of liberation when one has been deliberating over something for a long period of time and finally decides to go for it... the oh what the hell kind of attitude.. there is also the almost undefinable lightness and freedom that one might experience on being set free... from a relationship, or confinement of any kind.. and the blindingly bright and uncluttered joy of being enlightened, either in the true Buddhist sense or of discovering something of great magnitude...... there are a further two that spring to mind also.. but whatever the case... this is an impressive write and if I have happened to untangle the inspiration behind these words... our secret will be safe with me.... Well you have gone to such great lengths for my poem today mon ami that I hardly have words to thank you enough........... that analysis revealed the truth of my imagery within one of your fine interpretations and my grateful congrats....... the inspiration which gave the verse birth is found as and when and where but I know our secret is safe in your care - - blessya for this impressive comment Nev. .......... ever so muchly ......... x Fay

              • ANGELA & BRIAN

Thanks for sharing FAY ~ As a Young Lady on the treshold of Life & Love I am in the position of one who has kept emotions and *favours* fettered and out of bounds. However with BRIAN (especially in the confines of a Camper Van !) some (but not all) of those fetters are beginning to fall ! I was raised a strict Catholic and mainly attended All Girls Schools and worked in a Profession which had a lot of Females ! When I started courting and ones sensual experience progressed and Boys asked me about progressing to the next stage my answer was always NO ! Fortunately they were Gentlemen : we didn't get drunk : and no one forced themselves on me and I never dated older or married MEN !
Therefore I remained to some extent innocent. I knew what to do : but never did it. I was a good role model for *Our Lady* ! However when I met Brian : I said YES even before HE asked ! I read somewhere that TRUE LOVE surrenders without coercion because it is its nature to submit ! Im sharing this with YOU because your POEM really made me think ! What was it about Brian that just made my fetters (of which I was very very proud) : just fall away a few Months after we met : AMEN That is my interpretation : OK My innocence was not taken from ME : I surended it voluntarilly to TRUE LOVE : AMEN !
                Blessings & Love
                ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡

                • Fay Slimm.

You honour me with your confidence on matters of the heart versus a strict up-bringing dear Angela and I have to agree that love opens fetters without coercion and quicker than anything else - - your comment and interpretation is greatly appreciated. Loads of hugs................. xx

That curtain has now lifted and the light is there to shine on your life.
