LOOKING.
When I, on looking closer at
sun-flavoured roses see
how sweetly they all meet
some holy decree of quietly
being themselves and
letting me just be me I find
something vital drops
into my rusty heart, like
sunlight which awe unlocks.
Proverbial coating begins to
feel raw like a knife
has slit the outside of plush
pleached thought, my eyes
widen to the truth
of one single moment rushing
by and I suddenly realize why
a rose desires to be
simply naught but beautiful.

A fine write Fay.
Beautiful words about a beautiful flower Fay.
Reminds me of the classics, but with modern vocab.
Nice.
Yesterday while visiting a house I own, I saw all the rose bushes in full bloom - hundreds of flowers blooming - a truly awe inspiring sight
I paused to smell the roses
Thnx Fay
A nother special poem featuring as subject matter a special flower. There is a variety "Deep Secret" which as well as a brilliant display carries a great scent. A top class variety as is your Poerty my friend Thank you
Still waiting for the first flush here in mid-England - great work Fay
Beauty in accepting the simple as it is. We complicated beings so over-complicate the world all around us. Defining, analysing, 'improving' and messing with it rather than accepting we are in it. A harmonious simple existence with what is all around - it's just there for the taking.
An appreciation of a moments acceptance.
ANGELA HERE : Good Evening FAY ! I agree for the ROSE : its beauty of scent & sight is enough ! For us also it should be enough. Our personal BEAUTY in Presence & Love : Our BEAUTY in Art & Attitude. Each Human Being is born with a measure of BEAUTY and a capacity to be BEAUTIFUL in thought : word & deed. It is only a we share our intrinsic BEAUTY that we too can be *Beautiful as a ROSE* AMEN.
Thanks for caring & sharing !
Blessings & Peace & Love
Yours ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡
I love your writing more and more as I read it! The metaphors you use are so creative, they really paint an incredibly vivid picture 🙂
