Tune: Newcastle
('Eternal Light! Eternal Light!')
*******
Light Uncreated, shine on me
My inmost part you see
And dare a mortal ask for light?
We who were sinners in your sight
Now know redemption bright
The light of actuality
Man cannot bear to see
It in its full intensity
But glimpses shown by your grace free
Are shown e'en unto me
You whole and holy, pure always
Through everlasting days
Await a while, we meditate
On you Lord, Almighty and great
Knowing each human's state
God, no beginning and no end
Your Son you did Him send
To be our Saviour, take our place
Die, rise again for every race
Your love, mercies we trace
E'er high above, yet to us near
Your grace does here appear
Help us more of your will to know
And so to in Christ's image grow
His words and actions show
So in light unapproachable
You dwell, though do us call
Father revealed in Christ your Son
And with the Holy Spirit one
Comparable to none

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.8.6. metre. I'm not aiming to paraphrase original hymns, but sometimes keep to the theme of them.

Cor blimey Orchidee youre really into this anglican way of phrasing. Youll know by now i am no believer in the traditional way 'god, belief and worship' is delivered.
Nonetheless, despite me being irked by the message, you do write consistently well.
Now why can't you write about puppies or a romp in the hay like the rest of us mere mortals. Show us how it's done.
Thanks dusk. Well, I could say I was brought up in Anglican churches. Had experiences of other places too - Baptists, Pentecostals, etc.
Oh but I got me 'watchdog' Fido. He never lets me have 'excitement' in any form, and barks at the least swoony thing. I will put him out the back yard and write of romps in hay, etc!
I'm no super-being though, even if I might say 'No-one's perfect; only me!' Then I have to eat humble pie for being too big for me boots! heehee.
Its quite evident that in your eloquent writings you find strength and peace.
I am still trying to understand the motive for creation in the first place, which is missing from all scriptures
Thanks Suresh. Maybe it just was - and is - created by God, or a god as some may say. That may not sound too helpful!
Thanks again UNCLE STEVE for a very uplifting POEM & HYMN as usual ~ You and FIDO are a BLESSING.
Blessings & Joy to You & Fido
Yours ANGELA & BRIAN 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Thanks B&A.
That light is always there we just have different ways of seeing it. Good write Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
