Into the pan the butter goes,
Melts away.
Olive oil added,
In go the onions
Fried to softness,
In goes the meat,
In go the spices,
The stock cubes are added,
Followed by the wine.
Of course the wine
In all cooking,
The rest does not matter,
That wine added
Has already been tested,
Tested by the tasting method.
If the wine tastes good
It is good enough to use,
To use in the meal.
So remember this in cooking,
Never use water,
Where wine will do

Disguising ones alcoholic addiction with food huh? A cheap trick... and on a Sunday too? You'll have Orchi guarding the communion wine.
I do miss a good red. I used to enjoy but it is a banned substance since my stomach op of last August.
A great fun write composed over a well oiled cookery session methinks.
Trifle for desert?
No addiction thankfully but I do enjoy good wine, malt whisky and the occasional pint of Pigs Ear.
Sorry about your stomach op, I hope all is OK and all will be well.
Thank you d a, oh yes cooking is a passion with me, I have been doing it for over 60 years.

Thanks for sharing UNCLE ANDY ! Love the REQUIEM very soothing for SUNDAY at 9:30am (BRIAN) or 9:30pm (ANGELA) ! WE are both interested in the use of wine in Cooking ! I (BRIAN) as Lecturer in Food Science and ANGELA as a Daughter of a Rioja Vitner (Now you know why Im Marrying Her !). I (living alone) do a lot of Slow Cooker ONE POT cooking and Casseroles always call for a spot of VINO. A half bottle is good for a TOT and ONE for the POT. Wine adds Flavour & Savour. Loved the shape & the substance of your ODE !
Blessings & Love & Bon Cuisine to YOU & JOYCE
Yours as always ANGELA & BRIAN 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Thank you Brian, wine always adds something special to the dish, it is not about the alcohol as that goes away in the cooking.
I'm with you - love a glass of red but can't get into white. A meal without wine is like a day without sunshine.
Very true Michael, a glass of wine with dinner is essential.
We've sussed it! You use the wine. I use the water. Save me keep adding it to the wine!
I guessed that Orchi, you just keep your water out of my wine.
We'll be OK, us two. You with the wine, and me with the water.
I do jive with your recipie, no water when not necessary. I cook it so the juices of the meat create their own gravy - so no water and no wine, but I did enjoy a glass now and then.
Nice, light and to the point, as well as an enjoyable read - trifecta
Thank you Suresh, the juices of the meat are enhanced by the wine that is added, the sauce it creates is wonderful.
A sip for you and a glug for the pot. Having a glass helps prepare a scrumptious meal. Good poem
Phil
Thank you Phil, a galls inside you and a glass inside the pot is the way to go.
If you drink enough wine everything tastes good. it's a recipe for success. They say that beer also cooks well. I do use beer in my own BBQ sauce recipe. So, if we did have a cook-out and you cooked the lamb/beef in wine and I the ribs with my BBQ sauce, would there be any need to go to the Pub.
Thoroughly enjoyed your poetic cuisine. It was fun to read and tasty to imagine. Have a great dinner and don't drink too much wine. - Phil A.
Sounds like we have a great meal planned Phil, we will have to agree a time and a place, how about one day in Paradise. Andy.
I don't think I'll be welcome there. I expect all my eternal meals will be well-done.Maybe we should just write poetry about food. Thank you for the invite though. If perchance I do see my way into Paradise, I'll ring the dinner bell and you bring the wine.
