Tserevo Koria

Neville

Tserevo Koria

Here in Tserevo Koria

Where I feel most alive

I sup alternately upon

The scent of wild thyme

And strawberries

Before scalding my mouth

On the first of many

Strong black coffees

Drawing and almost

Drowning on the breath

Of a brand new day

Today, I still remember

That steaming hot summer

When Nikolai built

The old stone wall for us

In less time than it took me

To write a single poem

And even then

Long after the sun

Was directly overhead

He seemed quite content

To place each stone and rock

Precisely where he knew

I wanted it to be

He also shed less sweat

Than those of us who

Sat and watched him labour

He knew of course

That wall of his would eventually

Be offered as a gift and serve

To protect those of us he loved

And lived within that perfect

Mountain harbour

We now call Tserevo Koria

With Edwards advice I watched them race through, a place you have painted a even better picture too.

Should be on my list to visit, I dated a lady from Bulgaria. It may of only been 3 months but we definitely changed each other lives and hearts. Your word for love is quite wonderful

                Much peace and respect
                Thanks for the images

                • Neville

Thank you Dan.. yes Tserevo Koria is the name of the village where my second home is... and under the circumstances you describe, you are probably already aware Bulgarian is not the easiest of languages... and yes again, obicham is a lovely word.....Nastrave, Neville

                • dusk arising

Encouraged by daredevil M.E.'s comment i found the 4x4 vid on you tube and what an adventure, almost falling off steep slopes, crossing a river and the railway track too.
Yet another video took me thru the rain drenched town (they deffo need drainage) which looked very nice.
Really pleasant reading your words today filled with nostalgia and romance of an obviously treasured former time in your life.

                  • Neville

Yes, how amazing was that...thanks for reading my words and for the subsequent research... I do tend to get quite nostalgic about the old place and try to get over there every 6 weeks or so.... Neville

I googled and found Tserova Koria is in Bulgaria. Just prior to going to England for college, I visited the Eastern European countries, including Bulgaria, capital Sofia.
I will forever remember the old charm of, Odessa, St. Petersburg and Budapest
Your words stimulate these memories so well
                    Thnx
