THE VISION.

Fay Slimm.

THE VISION.

Boisterous sheets
of morning-fresh tumbling water
thrown from high rocks
in rainbowing torrents discharged
droplets of splintered light
into pooled cauldron

where implosion quelled thunder
to conquer all turmoil.

Breaking surface
with frothy rumpus on limpid-still
filtered calm where
plated water left sunless murk
swam the vision,

rustling tall stalks of iris, head

proudly erect and body

passively gliding.

Paws silently paced,

dipped, then of a sudden began

random spree of wide-eyed free diving,

in performance of wildness at one

with nature and slipping

occasional glances my way while

displaying quick tail flips

showing how fearless is otter elation.

He soon distanced
to a mere dot on a liquid-line journey
but never forgotten
was his fine fur-coated insistence

on watery play before leaving me
speechless with awe.

The day I spotted an otter in his home
element what favoured
pleasure I got from those few moments.

Ah, bless. it looked there for a moment for you and the otter shall have a lasting love affair. Such a smooth talker are these elusive animals and to have this for my first read of the morning has left me feeling I wan't an otter as a pet. Your devotion and love for the wilderness you desire have been totally rewarded within the life of an otters world. Love this, Fay Slimm. Thank you.

Sincerely appreciate your encouraging comment dear Kevin - so pleased that you enjoyed the read of otter appeal.

Wonderful write about a wonderful creature.
I have never seen an otter in the wild.We went to a place on Skye once that was the habitat of many otters and all we saw were seals and dolphins!
