MY PAPA is SPANISH. He is a RIOJA Wine Merchant based in
London. My MAMA is English but has a Degree in Spanish and
Business Studies and worked in London in the Spanish Wine
Trade (14.5% of the Worlds Wine Production) where she met
and married My Papa ! Rioja Wine is popular in New Zealand
because it is the Perfect Complementary Wine for LAMB !
MY PAPA has visited Australia : to promote RIOJA WINES
which can only be grown in the RIOJA REGION of N E SPAIN
(see the Video) It is the symbiosis of the SOIL - CLIMATE -
VINES and local knowledge of Vinticulture that produces such
a unique WINE 90% of which are TINTO (Red). The best RIOJAS
are aged for FIVE YEARS : two of them in oak barrels : and can
retail at £300 ($400) for a good VINTAGE ! However a One Year
Old RIOJA (aged in the bottle !) can be obtained for £9 ($12) !
A PANTOUM is a Classical Form of Poem written in any number
of QUATRAINS ! There is a consistent Rhyme Pattern (a b a b etc)
and Meter which makes them easy & melodious to read & recite !
There is an added beauty in a Rolling Repetition. Lines 2 & 4 in
Verse 1. become Lines 1 & 3 in Verse 2. This continues until
the Final Verse ! In the FINAL VERSE (in this case Verse 4)
Lines 1 & 3 are lines 2 & 4 from Verse 3. : BUT Line 2 is Line 3
form Verse 1. and Line 4 is Line 1 from Verse 1. This enables
the POEM to start and finish on the same Line which gives the
Poem COMPLETENESS & CLOSURE ! Why not try one yourself ?

Your parents must have missed my house on the way to New Zealand as I have not found any cases of Rioja in my porchway.

So Sorry about that UNCLE ANDY : But the cases of RIOJA for the TALKS and for Gifts to the Vineyards we vistit were all sent by SEA a few Months ago : Including a mixed case for Ruth & I to enjoy with our LAMB etc ! The video is a bit long : but it does fully explain just what RIOJA is and why the 5 year old Vintages are so so wonderful but also so so expensive ! As you know : when you enter *The World of Wine* you are on another Planet and the Wine Trails in and around Auckland are very very POPULAR. It is good to see many Young People learning to enjoy & employ wine appropriately as a complement to GOOD FOOD and not just to get blathered at a Music Festival. BRIAN is a conneseur of Good Food & Wine (he makes His Job an excuse !) but he rates NZ Cuisine & Wine very Highly ! This is why He*s coming for a WHOLE WEEK in OCTOBER just to take me Home ! Thanks UNCLE STEVE : I will ! I haven*t seen them for nearly a Year and we have much to catch up on ! Tomorrow night (THURSDAY) We have a MAORI concert with dancing and singing : I haven*t told them Im taking part so it will be a big surprize for them ! The penalty in SPAIN for watering RIOJA is 12 months in the Cooler !

Thanks UNCLE MICHAEL ~ as you know ANGELA & I like to use Classical Structures and we love both love PANTOUMS ! They are so straightforward and for some reason (for us) they always seem to work ! Angela has made a great job of this one Pleased you liked it ! Balanced Quatrians with a abab Rhyming Pattern are always pleasing and the 2:4 to 1:3 repetition gaves an added written & oral elegance !

What a lovely pantoum as tribute to your much love parents dear Angela - you are no doubt showing them all your favourite places out there and maybe they will decide to stay even longer - eh - -such a lovely picture too (perhaps that is your own Papa and Mama and both enjoying a taste of the famous New Zealand wines ? ) Have a great remains of their stay and make more happy memories.,,,,, hugs from Fay xxxxx

THANKS FAY : My Parents are the best in the WORLD and BRIAN thinks His are and I guess you did too ! Both my Parents lead very busy lives but I am so so glad they have been able to visit me here ! My PAPA always has a very full Diary of Shows & Promotions in the UK & Europe and he likes to visit the RIOJA Region to check on his interests ! My MAMA now acts as His Secretary and she keeps his Dairy and our Home Phone number receives all the enquiries etc which means she doesn*t have to travel into the London Office every day : She arranges His Shows and acts as His Hostess. She is fluent in Spanish : French & Italian which is an asset ! They are here til next Wednesday (12 June) and their plane leaves on Friday. They are flying via Los Angeles to do some Busisness there for RIOJA. We have a POLICY never to use actual Photos but the one I used is exactly how they look glass in Hand ! They are both in their Early 60's ! Thanks for your kind comments !

HOLA ANGELA ~ LA MIA AMORATA PRECIOSA ! A me gusta que Tu MAMA y PAPA son con Tu ! Wish I was there as well ! You seem to be having a great time visiting Vineyards and promoting your PAPAs beloved RIOJA. My fave Wine with LAMB but dont tell the KIWIS ! Love to MAMA & PAPA ! Im lookin forward to seeing You in October when it will be SPRING again one of AUCKLANDS best seasons so I will stay for a week and just enjoy being with you again ! Work is busy with lots of Project to mark and Exams. Finance is tight but we are coping and are able to manage and keep a full Staff complement ~ Im having to tach some Applied Maths to the Engineers ~ at least it does not entail Practical Work in Laboratories ! Today has all been about D-DAY ~ Yesterday was all about TRUMP ! The PLANES with the Paratroopers on their way to FRANCE flew over Essex an awesome site ! Im posting a POEM on D-DAY tomorow so leave the space clear !
