Famous Last Words

Kyng Vortiger sayeth only once

We shall this day hold them back to a man

Wyth our bowes and shafte

With self bowes of yew he sayed

We shall guard this isle of ours and let

same bowes follow the string

While cuivre’s overflow with fletchings

culled from grey lag

Each shot upon the wing

By thunder I feeleth those shaftes and lances as ancient battle commences - - a great war lord was Vortiger -- bravo for using archaic words Nev - a linguistic delight for the likes of me to read.
I always did love to read and decipher historical language.

Canst thou bear with a joke from me?!
My famous last words were: 'See ya arooouunndddddddd!' But why? Cos I was falling off a cliff at the time. It was a tad painful when I landed.

                      • Neville

You fall about too much my friend.. if it hurt on landing, it was not high enough... take more care and safe landings...

I'm gonna try another 24 hours of not breathing. Will I feel OK after it?! We can but try it, yes...…?

So you have read the Bede then Neville, I struggle with reading his Ancient English style.

                              • Neville

Good Morning GF60... yes I have read some of Bede's writings and agree, it is not the easiest style to get ya head around, but for him though, we would be more in the dark than ever regarding our early heritage and stuff... he was not a bad poet either, was he.... Cheers my friend.... Neville
