Famous Last Words
Kyng Vortiger sayeth only once
We shall this day hold them back to a man
Wyth our bowes and shafte
…
With self bowes of yew he sayed
We shall guard this isle of ours and let
same bowes follow the string
…
While cuivre’s overflow with fletchings
culled from grey lag
Each shot upon the wing

By thunder I feeleth those shaftes and lances as ancient battle commences - - a great war lord was Vortiger -- bravo for using archaic words Nev - a linguistic delight for the likes of me to read.
I always did love to read and decipher historical language.
me too job done then.... and I fo thank thee m'lady & verily......
So be it mine liege that forthwith I give thee my kerchief as favour for quilling thus. Ha - - beat that !
Forsooth and still thy hand and harte we are fayvoured indyde thy perumed kerchief ensconed neath mine sadle...........
Fie to thee thou scurrilous Knight when thou knowest a favour be put next to thy heartbeat --this Lady sayeth what deed be served beneath hard saddle when next to thine hose or marred by codpiece ? - - - therefore noble Lording hie thee to repair said kerchief to where is belongeth then thou mayst tap on my chamber when twelve chime tonight and collect thy due. - -- (Wow - dont know what we are doing today with all this hilarity bouncing between comments....... fun tho' eh )
yea verily
Was ye with me, and others, in 1066? I mucked it all up ya know. They say that I said to Harold 'Look up Sir, at the vital moment - and he did!
My famous last words have not been said yet. They will be 'I'm gonna stop singing!' Meaning I'm gonna sing until then. Oh no! lol.
Ye goodly kyng was about this land over 500 anum's before 1066 and true... but I thank thee on his behalf............
Verily i sayeth unto thee W.T.F.

Canst thou bear with a joke from me?!
My famous last words were: 'See ya arooouunndddddddd!' But why? Cos I was falling off a cliff at the time. It was a tad painful when I landed.
You fall about too much my friend.. if it hurt on landing, it was not high enough... take more care and safe landings...
I'm gonna try another 24 hours of not breathing. Will I feel OK after it?! We can but try it, yes...…?
go for it....
Great write and some great comments - I shan't try to beat them.
Thank you Michael...

So you have read the Bede then Neville, I struggle with reading his Ancient English style.
Good Morning GF60... yes I have read some of Bede's writings and agree, it is not the easiest style to get ya head around, but for him though, we would be more in the dark than ever regarding our early heritage and stuff... he was not a bad poet either, was he.... Cheers my friend.... Neville
