Smallness.
Connecting with sky above and earth
below,
eyes unfocused, I breathe in to relax
slowly
and regard with mindfulness the life
going
on at my feet, such smallness neatly
flowing
toward some mystical shape-shifting
whole,
directed by inbuilt momentum all its
own.
Grass blades creak, rustled leaves
moan.
Petals sigh as warm winds flutter
coats.
Toads click when heat dries their
home.
Pollen hums as bee-tongue sucks
gold.
Worms weep when birds tighten
hold.
Butterflies sniff and grasshoppers
groan.
Soil heaves with action under my
nose.
Busyness rules in every miniscule
burrow.
I watch as snail-gait slow motion
unfolds
tiny changes within nature's great
poem
and marvel how littleness feeds my
soul.

Fay's way
To happier days
I am honoured to be a small part of your inspiration dear Dan - shall look forward to reading your version tomorrow and thanks for the slogan "Fays way to happier days" - may all your days give you good health and happiness........................ x Fay
A fine write and pic Fay. Snail-saving time now - damp weather, they come out of hedges, and try to cross the 'motorway' - the pavement! More a bit later in the year though.
Thank you sincerely for the read and comment dear Orchi.....
Heady things that we are, it is so easy to ignore the tiny world at our feet.
Around the patch where i live there are an amazing amount of small black spiders down there. Get down to their level and they are unmissable.
You took me to a similar place of meditation. So many weeds i should have dealt with.
Yes D.A. there is another dimension right under our feet - a tiny world of avid workers. Thanks so much for the lovely comment.
without the eyes of a poet and all associated skills, such wonders would go unnoticed, or at the very least, unremarked upon and then forgot.......... nice one Fay..... N
I would add the eyes of an artist to that - good observation on a super write Neville.
Pleased you like the read mon ami - -- the miniature world at our feet is worthy of any poetic tribute......... small means great in Nature's book eh ?
it does Fay and in a big way ....
It is that "Smallness" that allows the rest of us to exist. Bees are endangered at the moment, and without them we all perish. It's the small things in life that truly matter. In a person's mind it is also mostly the small things that become keepsakes. "Littleness" does indeed "feed" the "soul" as Natures little wonders feed the Earth. A lovely poem, Fay - Phil A.
How very true our lives as humans depend on the wonders of bees and the like..........thanks Phil for your thoughtful in-put - - my small tribute to the miniature world at our feet outlines but a few of its wonders.

Your comment dear Angela is a fine summary of why we need that small world at our feet - - equilibrium is the right word for a healthy biosphere and lets hope humanity discovers its value. Big hugs for you as your parents must continue their journey having left pleasing memories of their time in New Zealand.,.................. XX Fay
