Old Poets
Old poets never die
Nor do they simply fade away
They either write
Themselves into a corner
Or get written into history by
Someone else they say
Maybe a lover or a stranger
Who knows it matters not
I notice I am history from today

Thank you ever so bloomin kindly Michael.. what a luverly thing to say.... Cheers
Neville
I'll have to agree with Michael, your poetry is quite exciting. I pretend to be a poet, but up against the immortals I am just a whisperer with a pen.
you guys are both far too kind if you ask me...
Was ya around in 1066?!
not quite..
Life - a history lesson.
Without a history, whats to write about.
Long may you make more history Neville.
thank you sir & back at ya......
Neville
So now we shall read you in publications only - though we graduated in the same year, agewise, I have a long way to go before even be called a poet
you can read me any which way you like... I call you both poet and friend.... what year did you graduate.... see your statement gave birth to a series of questions.... N
1965
is that the year of your earth birth, or the year you graduated from University?
High School.
I am supposing from earlier reads that Michael, Goldfinch and yourself to be from the same era.
it would seem you are burning a few more candles than me... but hey.. what is time other than something to set ya watch by..... N
Those words of poets live for ever in the minds of those who read them. Reading your words Neville consigns them to the glory of history, never to be forgotten.
Now there's a fine thing if ever there was..... Bless you GF60 and I hope you have a fine Sunday sir.... Neville
