Children of the Sun

SerenWise

I spend the longest day alone,

Sitting in the sinking sun,

Collecting freckles on my nose,

Pages quiver beneath my fingers -

Prickling grass between my toes.

I turn the sacred music loud,

Watching the sun-disc sinking down,

With the supple sweet of apricot flesh

Between my fingers, on my tongue,

Making these feelings dance afresh.

The daylight is fading

And the tide is running strong,

But the shortest night has just begun,

I'll taste you on the ether, dear -

As you listen to me come undone.

The new dawn is breaking,

Slowly singing, this is how we start;

There's no game, but we've already won,

And laughing with the fullest heart,

We are the children of the sun.

May the sun always fill your life with joy, happiness and love.

a very much enjoyed dedication to what I suspect is one of our most important annual calendar events the always eagerly awaited Summer Solstice...... were you truly there.... it has been quite a few years since I last watched this most amazing spectacle first hand.... Neville

Sadly I was not at Stonehenge in person, but I'm always there in spirit
