THE MINIMALIST MANTRA

Michael Edwards

THE MINIMALIST MANTRA

Won’t use it.

Won’t wear it.

Won’t enjoy it.

Won’t need it.

Don’t buy it.

Don’t use it.

Don’t wear it.

Don’t enjoy it.

Don’t need it.

Won’t keep it.

  • Comment from author about the poem: My wife and I are minimalists - we only keep what we use or brings us pleasure. As for the photo the door on the left is the studio (the one on the right is my workshop).

I admire your minimalist virtues Michael. We are the complete opposite, "it may come in handy" proved to me a few weeks ago whn my neighbour had a flat battery and he had lent his charger to somebody else, I lent him mine which I don't think had seen the light of day for about forty years! It still worked.

Having employed two skips to clear the rubbish from my parents home we vowed never to leave the same legacy for our children and so far we are sticking to it. Dad had a collection of either 5 or six old mowers which he kept in case he ever needed the parts - well he never did. It took us nearly a full day to get the rubbish out of the loft none of which was of any use or value.

After reading this I will keep in mind and will say the mantra every time I go out. I’m not a spender but I’m not a minimalist either. I have a lot of junk to get rid of.

            • Michael Edwards

Just ask the questions - not only do you keep a junk free home but you are wealthier as well. thanks marijoy.
