Faith Endures Awaiting Christ's Return - James Series (8)

Tune: Ratisbon

('Christ whose glory fills the skies')

James 5 v.7-12 part

*******

Be patient till the return

Of the Lord, for His day yearn

As a farmer has patience

Till the needed rain comes hence

To water o'er all the land

Provided by God's good hand

Be patient then, stablish hearts

Waiting throughout all life's parts

For His coming does draw near

Soon He shall to all appear

Judge not one another, for

The Lord be Judge evermore

See the prophets example

They did hear the Lord's sure call

They spoke in His name, and they

Suffered affliction those days

And patiently persevered

The Lord, He they humbly feared

We count them who happy do

Endure patiently, 'tis true

See the patience of Job too

Suffered troubles not a few

And see the outcome, the Lord

He was faithful to His word

He did reveal to Job sure

His mercies tender and pure

And His deep pity it be

Shown him compassionately

In the end he all restored

Praised and glorified his Lord

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 7.7.7.7.7.7. I read on the story of Job, that it can be a mystery. Maybe not all tales (though true tales) of suffering end 'happily ever after', though there is some good purpose somehow hopefully, we can trust.

A good write but his return is too late for me.

Thanks Gold. Yet it's said 'With the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and vice versa'. So in a way, only 2 days (2,000 years) have passed since His first appearance. Though that verse means He is outside of time really.

I understand the message here.. I read ya loud and clear... but should the second verse not read 'for'His coming etc etc.. or is 'fro' an abbreviation of from?.. clarification like butter would be munchly appreciated ...... Neville

Thanks Neville. Nope, it's not me leave out 'm' as I leave out the 'v' sometimes - e'ermore. Amendment done! You having toast and butter - munchly….?!

Isn't it strange that we await HIS second coming, rather than changing our ways, so HE won't have to come.
          As always, message poetically delivered

Thanks Suresh. We should change our ways too.
