Alone in stillness

the sacred rites are offered

the butter lamps burn.

    Been there in that place
    Done that, but never answered
    The lamps became dark.

Ours is chicken and pork today plus generous glasses of sloe gin. Daughter and family due soon.

I've just balanced on ladders clearing gutters and I'm ready for it.

        Michael,

I havenā€™t thought about or heard those two words ā€œbutter lampsā€ in a very long time! My Italian Great-Grandmother would always say ...
ā€œLasciate quelle candele di burro accese per il resto della vostra vitaā€...

Thank you for sharing your talents, Maestro! Youā€™re amazing!

Used by the Buddhist monks throughout the Himalayas - and yes - they continually burn. Thanks Laura.

The amazing thing about those lamps is that the cotton wick burns forever, if ones keeps feeding the lamp with butter, and thus the message in my last Diwali Greetings

May all the lamps in your house shine bright
And the darkness be always kept at bay
May all your progeny stay healthy and flourish
Just as the lamp by the oil is nourished

Thnx for both pieces of art.
