I look around me,
Look at the faces of the people,
The people watching the performance,
They are all enraptured, enlightened.
The band is playing,
Their glorious sound engulfs them,
Engulfs me.
As they play
I am lifted into another world,
A world of beautiful music.
A feeling of wonder comes over me,
The hairs on my body rise,
Goosebumps come all over me
As the music permeates my soul.
I am lost in that glorious world
Where the brass shines through me
With the sound of their notes.
Again I look around,
I find the others too are in my world
As the brass band plays,
Plays through their souls,
Into ours.

- Comment from author about the poem: I went to the Pershore Summer Brass Festival yesterday and had a wonderful time listening to some wonderful bands. Concerts from 10.00am to 10.00pm - cost £7.50, not bad for a days wonderful entertainment from 29 Brass Bands - I did not see them all but saw the best ones.

Thanks UNCLE ANDY ~ Ahhh PERSHORE WORCESTERSHIRE ! Great place for a Great Brass Band Festival ~ The Sound of Paradise ! I (BRIAN) played a BUGLE in the Scout Band ~ but never a TRUMPET ! Having been born & bred in Lancashire ~ Brass & Silver Bands were part of our Heritage !
They should (& do) make all our body hairs rise up and take notice ! We do have a few a Few Brass & Silver Bands in Essex mainly conducted by ex-pats frorm YORKSHIRE ! £7:50 Good Price for 12 hours BRASSING ! It wouldn't even buy you an ICE CREAM in the London Palladium !
Love & Blessing to YOU & JOYCE
Yours ANGELA & BRIAN 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
We have several bands around here our Church Organist is an E flat bass player, at this event he is asked to play in four or more bands, not being a competition it is allowed, we see many junior players as well earlier in the day so the art will not be lost.
Andy,
I’m so happy that you’re getting some much needed R&R!
After reading your delightful poem, I closed my eyes and attempted to envision myself at that Festival! 🎼 🎶
Super!!!
Happy Sunday!
~Laura~
Thank you Laura, Joyce and I always went to these, it is The first time I have been without her but my brother and wife,, her sister and husband came as well as they do every year, it was good to see them, I had not seen my brother for a while as he still lives back in Kent where we were brought up.
Take care.
Andy
Just great - wish I'd been with you.
They hold them on the first Saturday in July every year, I have been to many of them and they never disappoint.
A fine write Gold.
Thanks Orchi.
The vibrations of the bands touched every nerve in your body, fulfilling the yearning of its soul.
So very true Suresh, thank you for your understanding comment.
