  • Comment from author about the poem: I'm running out of poems again - must get the pen working. The painting is of Nettuno, Italy, where the painting will soon be hanging in one of the buildings depicted.

The painting of Italy's wonderful street deserves to be hung and will be welcomed I'm sure - your talent shows no bounds my friend.

That painting is sublime - it is amazing what wonders can be conceived from a small room.

A small studio - I had only a photo as source material which a great challenge but one which I enjoy.

P.S. - - Michael the intriguing penning is engaging too.......... I sort of forgot to mention that as my eyes were caught by the glorious watercolour ................

          • ANGELA & BRIAN

BUON GIORNO UNCLE MICHAEL : ANGELA here (9:30 pm Another day of Rest & Religion safely passed !) BRIAN & I love ITALY and you have captured her perfect Geometry and Angularity !
When I read your HAIKU my first impression was that it was a truncated tribute to the 50th Anniversay of the greatest leap in the History of Mankind ! The manned landing on the Moon by the forever HEROS Aldrin - Armstrong - Collins. Think about it !

Blessings & Peace to YOU & YOURS
            Yours as always ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡

            • Michael Edwards

And I'm with you - Italy is my (our) favourite country. Thee architecture is unsurpassable - yes it could easily refer to the landing - thanks so much Angela.

              Open doors = open invitation
              Straw mattress = simplicity
Room with open door, keep nothing out, and thus your world is wherever you are.

I have not really understood Haiku, and maybe you can enlighten me.

              • Michael Edwards

It's a great form but you needn't stick too closely to the rules. The purists would tell you that strictly mine isn't a haiku - that's why I call them 575 rather than giving them poetic form title. You can find out more at Shadow Poetry which is a good site for poetry forms. Beware though - they can become addictive. Also a useful form when time is short.

I will leave an aired bottle of Barolo on the table on the right
Beauty of an image there Michael
                BRAVO

And I'll bring the olives - thanks Andrew.

                    Michael,

                    UN BEL DIPINTO!

                    A beautiful watercolour!
I know exactly where that is! It’s not too far from where I lived for a few years!
We can sit at one of those tables and enjoy il VINO, le OLIVE, and il FORMAGGIO! If my dad were with us, he would also like some PANE RUSTICO!

                    The poem is delightful!
                    The simplicity of yesteryear!

                    ~Laura~

It was commissioned by a nephew - I enjoyed painting it. Don\'t forget the formaggio.

                      Hello Michael,

                      A lovely poem.

When I read this poem it reminded me of the joy and beauty of life in a rustic environment. Carefree, warm, good food, nice people and uncomplicated.

                      Keep writing
