SATURDAY

Michael Edwards

SATURDAY

 S  aturday’s like any day

‘A  nd why is that’ I hear you say

he reason is - may I explain?

U  nequalled as my favourite  day,

R  etirement changed the state of play

D  ays then all became the same

A  nd now I shout hip, hip, hooray

  es, every day is Saturday’.

So true Michael, every day is Saturday for some of us, we have earned them.

  • orchidee

Yes, you've earned them. What, you're not doing any lawyer-ing on Saturdays?!

  • dusk arising

All through our working lives we looked forward to providing our minds and bodies with a weak-end after five days of pure joyous toil.
And now what do we have? Weak-ends for the rest of our days?
No way! i hear you say. These Saturdays are the days of harvest. Gathering in the richness of all life has reigned upon us.
    What of Sundays I ask?

  • Andrew Charles Forrest

    Very well constructed Michael
    What a week you've had?

I always feel like I’ve stumbled into an upbeat world when I read your poems. Such light relief 😌
