Witness To The World

orchidee

Tune: Solothurn

('Now let us from this table rise')

********

Communion ended once more

We have partaken of Christ's store

The bread and wine, His body, blood

Nourishing food and cleansing flood

Grant as we have humbly partook

Of your gifts, you not us forsook

So may we faithful to you be

Fill us with your Spirit, e'en me

Not detached from life, but living

In the world for you, God and King

Of our lives be, help us witness

Share you with others and them bless

So being fruitful, productive

To serve, to be served, thus to live

And to your will know, do reveal

Send us out to teach, preach, and heal

And here our source, 'tis you our Lord

Shown to us here, the living Word

Love as the centre of this feast

Open to all, greatest and least

We pray when we return again

To share in these symbols, that then

May we something for your glory

[Have] Done or said for eternity

Fitting tribute to a bloodthirsting religion. Pocket vampires all of you!
    (just kidding you)

Well, it could be called such, in the Old Testament, with killing of animal sacrifices. It's Christ's death (and resurrection) for us in the New Testament.

      • dusk arising

I was referring to the drinking of christs blood in communion wine orchidee.

        • orchidee

I see dusk. I see it, as many do, as symbolic. Christ's body and blood are not actually present, as though we are magically eating and drinking it. That would be repulsive, and cannibalistic. The bread and wine are symbols or emblems.

But why do you need to symbolically drink blood and eat flesh? Isn't being a believer enough.... frankly its like something out of a horror movie..... not only did your forebears kill you Jesus horribly upon a cross but they now want to symbolically eat you and drink his blood.... macabre in the truest sense of the word. Do you/the 'flock' actually understand why this is necessary or do they all just blindly accept it as a part of proving they are totally brainwashed?

We could say we spiritually 'feed' on Him, when taking the bread and wine. Part of a prayer says 'And feed on Him in your hearts with thanksgiving'. Well, He instituted it Himself at the 'Last Supper'.

Good write but I no longer believe that the Christian philosophy is right, it is being forced on us, as are other religious structures to others. My Spirit is there though.

Thanks B&A - glad you do! Sometimes it's tacked on to a service; or some have it monthly. It's a pity where they fit it in just to get it out of the way, as it were.
